is this going to be region free?

Does not look like it from the information provided by Zavvi et al. I wonder why Amazon as the laggard of the four suppliers came in with such a high starting price when it is almost guaranteed that the price will be reduced?

A very interesting review of the film was published in Variety Magazine by Scott Foundas back at the beginning of August. The title of the review read: 'District 9' writer-director Neill Blomkamp delivers a less dazzling but absorbing and intelligent bit of futurism.' Sorry as a newbie I can't supply the appropriate link.

Another poor price from Amazon compared to their usual standard. It seems every non-exclusive is going to be £20+ at the moment. If a retailer has an exclusive, then I accept that they can charge whatever they like, but surely there should be competition between retailers on trade wide releases? :(

I wouldn't read too much into that zavvi list all their steelbooks as region b.

But unlike the others Amazon will price match and undercut, just not on day one. They always seem to start high and as long as they don't sell out of their allocation they will drop the price .

They always seem to sell out their allocation though and then put it back up after the release date, usually at a higher price. They don't price match either, I don't see them beating Base or Sainsbury's on price :(

A bit defeatist for day one of it being listed. A quick check on a couple of non exclusives - the hobbit and pacific rim shows that Amazon has reduced their prices after initial listing (sadly as PR "sold out" I doubt there will be any further reduction) to below both Base (who I've had poblems with in the past) and Sainsburys (who I've never ahd a probelm with) . I'm not saying it will drop, but there is a possibility it will .

Cool looking steel. I've pre-ordered with Amazon as most likely the price will come down. Sainsburys let me down recently with 2 dented steels due to thin, almost paper, brown card and nothing else apart from the invoice!!!

If Amazon drops to £18.99 I will order with them and cancel Sainsburys. :)
