So fess up-has there been a time when you've been seduced by the art of the Steelbook, but really didn't like the flick?

Examples? Chime in and have fun!

i watch a lot of films, and now it takes something special to really impress me.
the last film i thought stood out was kick ass i think.
ive seen some good films, and some not so good films. nothing that i deem so poor as to be awful though. resi 4 was on the low side of average. so too was skyline and monsters. watched edge of darkness the other night and thought it was quite good (and the steel is really nice too) i think it might have impressed a lot more of i watched less films.

ive never been a big fan of angelina, so i wasnt affected by her appearance in wanted. i just took it for what it was and enjoyed it. if i was an angelina fan then i can see why it might dissapoint.

I just started collecting steelbooks last year, and I just started buying almost anything I could find. But now that they're releasing so many different steelbooks, I've tried to become more picky when it comes to buying them.

I bought Wolfman from someone cause it was cheap, still haven't watched it though.

have the harry potters 1-6 german steelbook, couldnt help myself when the price dropped below 9 euros. i dont really like the 1st 4 films that much (have only seen them) , however felt it was too much of a bargin to miss. Now the prices have gone back not only to they look great in my collection, they seem to be a pretty good investment as they sell for much more every where now.....not that im going to sell them

The problem is that too often the steelbook releases are better than the actual films of course. Recent ones like the Green Hornet and Paul were very average, but the steelies are great. Very rare that the films are so good that it doesn't matter what they bring out, you are going to buy them.

Sucker Punch is a case in point, not a fantastic film (although what Snyder has done is brilliant imo) but the steelies with the cover art that will be coming out are going to be gorgeous .... Gladiator has to be one of the exceptions. Brilliant film. All the Ghibli movies also. But there's not that many imo. All personal opinion of course.

You should check it out. Great film and one of my favorite steelbooks too

Sweeney Todd, Human Centipede, Last Airbender were all complete gash. Kept the Sweeney Todd steel, traded Airbender and cancelled the pre order of Centipede. I pre order all the UK stuff then decide nearer the time but when I found out what this was about(wrong on so many levels) I just canceled it.

tempted to sometimes but so far I have been able to resist wasting money on unwanted movies just because it's a steelbook.
