So fess up-has there been a time when you've been seduced by the art of the Steelbook, but really didn't like the flick?

Examples? Chime in and have fun!

Bought expendables as it was cheap, not a bad movie but was expecting more. Worst offender would have to be judge dredd, can guarantee that's one that will forever remain sealed but do like the case...

for me steelbook collecting, especially trying to have a complete collection uk blu and dvd steels was very hard when i had to plonk down major cash for the twlight trilogy, on dvd and bluray steels.

i also have little britain the game dvd quiz because it was a steelbook. as for bluray steels 10000 BC i bought just because it was a steelbook, but the majority of uk steels are for good films or at least movies that didnt flop.

I bought the UK 10,000 BC when I was on holiday there in 2009. Went into a HMV store in Leeds, and I was like a schoolboy in a sweet shop. I was into DVD Steels at the time, and there were lots of the Definitive Editions on the shelves. I got a couple, but then I saw the 10,000 BC Blu-ray Steel for £10 so I bought it.

Movie is pretty average, but with no artwork inside, I found out how to insert my own, including the spine. It was my first effort, and wasn't a total success, but it was a good learning curve, and I have put artwork into seven more SteelBooks since, with much better results. I still have the SteelBook in my display.

Haven't seen it, but Touch of Evil for £25 :hilarious:
Black and White on blu ray? Only Sin City can get away with this..

Awesome steelbook though..

My latest purchase (pre-order) is King of New York. Film is poor. The steelbook is badass.

I buy steelbooks based on artwork more so than the movie itself. I also keep them sealed if I have no intention of watching the movie.

Some titles I own that I've not seen nor do I intend to watch: Green Hornet, Green Lantern, Clash of the Titans, Cowboys and Aliens, Minority Report, Scott Pilgrim, Final Destination 5, etc.

Skyline. OK, not fair - the film was much better than people give it credit for. Awesome Steelbook. :D

p.s. What's the fuss about the Scott Pilgrim steelbook? I tried watching the movie and gave up after 10 minutes...

Yes I own quite a few I actually have both Sex and the City's, I mean the only steel I have different covers of and its for a crappy movie (I have the Canadian and Best Buy exclusives, I had already made a deal for the Futureshop version when I found out they were coming out with a BB version and this was in the heyday of my collecting so I bought both).

No one mentioned Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull that was a terrible movie but I bought it to complete the series and got it in steel. I also have New Moon and Breaking Dawn two horrible movies.

I have some very mediocre movies for sure Beowulf, the Breed, Boondock Saints 2, Cloverfield, Green Lantern, Grudge 2, and Immortal.

My G2's aren't that bad I blind bought Resident Evil Degeneration for $7.88 and don't have a lot of hope for it but other than that I have been staying pretty pick on G2's since there is so many I want and its easy to be picky right now.

sucker punch - got 2 steelbooks including the comic con release, couldn't believe how cr*p the movie was when i watched it!! still, the CC release is beautiful and is worth a load so its a keeper!!

..and not so new :D
Got to have been said already but Captain America:wtf:

It's like it was cobbled together just for the sake of it? Amazing steelbook - I have taken to owning three - but that means I now have 9 discs containing this movie :hilarious:

Sucker Punch germany was a blind buy.

I saw the steelbook version on Amazon.de and bought since I hadn't watched the movie. Beautiful steel and the added bonus was I kinda liked the movie despite all the hate. :D

EDIT: if it's a really bad movie that I bought anyway, it would probably be the Wolfman. Got it together with my other stuff from Amazon.

I don't buy movies I don't like as Steelbooks, but I do blind buy Steelbooks, and few times I end up disliking the movie.

I bought Green Hornet because the case looked cool and I hated the movie.

I bought Fightclub because my friend recommended it and it was a nice Steelbook. I didn't hate the movie, but I greatly doubt that I am going to watch it again...

And just recently I bought Storm Warriors & The Lost Bladesman even though I haven't seen the movies but the Steelbooks looked cool and I like Chinese movies.

Same can be said for Farewell My Concubine, I haven't seen it before but damn that Steelbook is gorgeous! And it's a Chinese film and everyone has been saying it's good. And I got it for a damn great price considering it's only 1000 made.

But as I said, I don't buy Steelbooks of movies that I don't like. And I don't necessarily buy a Steelbook even if I like the movie. As I have no intention of buying Titanic & Jaws as Steelbooks because they both looks horrible and I am getting those awesome special collector's boxes of them both. :)
