I am very new to this forum and following my ever growing collection have been wondering what the general consensus is regarding numbering exclusive release steelbooks.

WWZ is my only personal experience of this but I would say it adds something extra to the exclusivity. Obviously this would only be relevant for the ranges, say 4000 and below.

Just wondering what you all think as it seems to be under utilised.

I say the only trouble with numbered limited edition steels is that maybe some numbers ( ie the first and last) may be considered more collectable/desirable than the others.
I kinda like the idea of numbers editions though

In cases where it's truly an le then yes, sometimes though something is classed as a limited without really being so. It only really adds value if its a low number item and even then often only if you're lucky enough to have one of the key numbers.

In terms of numbered colections like the Disneys etc I'm glad they aren't numbered 1-20 (so far) as not all films are worth buying so I can plug the gaps with my own additions rather than having numbers skip.

I would definitely like to see more numbered Steelbooks, especially laser etched ones. That said I would rather the number was placed on the back cover (maybe with a cut out in the J-card to please those who keep them sealed) as I think they do detract from the artwork a little.

Would love to see a number on any limited edition, be it etched, sticker, jcard or any other way. I do like the ES stickers and wish Zavvi would do similar. Etched is a bit of a novelty and needs to be reserved for very special releases. The Kimchi cards are also pretty cool

I went with yes but only on specific titles. Mainly on titles that have an ultra limited run (like The Aviator, Ultimate Avengers) otherwise you could have a huge number printed somewhere on the steelbook like the Target Iron Man 2 (10,000 I think?)

:yeahthat: +1

And only on the really limited runs, otherwise it just seems kind of pointless imo.

I'm glad I posted this. It seems to be something that many people want. Surely couldn't be too hard to implement for a large retailer the likes of Zavvi.etc.

Liking the numbering on the back with a cutout in the j card. Seems like a practical solution that would probably satisfy most.

Still not really heard from anyone who is adamant it is a bad idea. It would be interesting to hear their opinion?
