It's not just me. The entire market is enamored with 3D.

It sounds like your opinion is in the minority because millions of movie goers are spending more for the 3D experience, so others, including myself, do see the value in it.

I did see TFA in IMAX 3D and thought the 3D was amazing. It adds depth to certain scenes such as the docking bay hangars and in space scenes. Ironic because I thought the movie itself was garbage.

In THE WIZARD OF OZ, it actually improved the movie because the backgrounds had depth when before there wasn't any.

Whether you like it or not, many movies are made to give the viewer visual depth even in 2D movies. Remember the trench scene at the end of STAR WARS?

The multi-plane camera was developed by Disney to simulate 3D in animation.

3d in theaters is a ton different though. Many people with enjoy those in 3d. Its home video sales where 3d is failing sadly.

I personally think that because the adoption rate was not high enough for TV manufacturers they decided to more resources towards 4K than 3D. However, the marketability of 3D releases is different from availability of 3D TVs. As a consumer myself and hearing from many others, my sense is that given the option of 2D only and 3D + 2D, the later is preferred. If there is any truth to 3D being dead, then we would see a shift by studios to eliminate it from their releases. Quite the opposite though. Every major release caters to the 3D market ( whether immediately or afterwards )

FYI - The Amazon US amaray release offers 4K + 3D which is awesome! I already pre-ordered!
I just looked and they changed the listing. :( only problem with pre-orders. Will be the 3D version for me. 4K just isn't a big enough improvement over regular bluray to justify the purchase... I ALWAYS buy 3D unless it is not available - then I buy 4K!

Its sad that if you dont agree with somone pushing a product you get bashed. Its all about money.
I am tired of justifying 3D to haters. I don't bother anyone else and I don't understand why others want to get rid of the format I love most of all.
Before I bought my 4K tv with 3D I wasn't nearly as much of a fan but I feel 3D is MUCH better at home than in theaters. I bought into all the crap and believed you would get a sub par experience at home but nothing could be further from the truth. I don't want ANYONE to lose what they love!
I just counted again and I am up to 346 3D Blurays and damn proud of my collection!

I don't see the big push in 3D TV sales as I did maybe five years ago, but 3D continues to be popular.

When I talk to second hand stores, they can't stock 3D fast enough and they have told me that they have customers asking for 3D and how 3D releases sell quickly.

Maybe they have ramped down production a lot, but those who like 3D, like it a lot.

Also, when I visited Europe and Asia, 3D continues to be very popular there. It's only here in NA where 3D is less popular.

Yes because the US gets shafted on many 3d releases lol

Not 100% sure what kind of exclusive this will be (Slipcover or Steelbook?) so I decided to post it here

steelbook is junk. Dull cheap matte finish for $35.00? I will no longer be supporting US steels. I would rather wait a couple of weeks to get a better quality
Fantastic steelbooks and where to find them. Certainly not in the good 'ole USA for the most part. This one is definitely not worth what they are asking at present.(n)

After 3 trips to 3 dofferent best buys I was able to finally find one without any damage to it. I did end up opening one and found damage behind the jcard so i had to go back and do an exchange. Luckily the one I exchanged it for had no damage whatsoever.

I did however manage to snap a picture of the UV code from the one I returned if someone would like it.
