Yeah, you're probably right, Xavier-they do try to presell movies at Walmart with the Vudu hook of viewing some stuff 'in advance' of release, but it could appear elsewhere, too.

Urbeen, all my pre-order card says is that I will receive the Steelbook by release date, if I redeem the Vudu code by 11/1.

I got it at a good price and its a 50/50 chance of it arriving damaged. My pre-orders normally show up on saturday before so it will give me time to asses any possible damage. Thankfully my mail carrier always knocks and leaves packages at the door.

From the looks of it, this is definitely not a studio issue since they have this already available in other countries. My guess is one or two of the retailers are causing the hold-up of the release date. Just my guess...
