Favorite SteelBook™ of 2013 so far?

Hi All,

Since we've reached the half-way mark of the year, it's that time of year to jump in and share which releases are your favorites thus far.

You can suggest any Steelbook released in 2013, until December 31. I will tally the top 25 nominations, and we'll once again vote in January 2014 for the community's collective 'winner'.

Hey guys, just a little reminder, that we'll be having our HDN 'Favorite Steelbook' of the year vote in January. Cut off for suggesting a candidate is 12/31. I will then go through this thread and tally them all up. The top 25 (as many as fit in a poll) will then be put up for a community vote in Jan. So you have about 2 weeks or so to share your favorites. Thanks all for participating!

There are a handful of impressive steels, but I'd have to give the nod to the WWZ ES exclusive.

i bought a lot of good looking steels this year, but the most impressive are OZ 3d slip from blufans and TANGLED lenticular from kimchidvd.

Well my personal favourite has got to be Who Framed Roger Rabbit. I thought the colours were vibrant and bright (meaning it stands out a lot) and the artwork and the embossing/debossing were well done. Aladdin & Life of Pi were not too far behind though.

It's funny how thoroughly tired I am of embossing these days and the stupid border that comes with it, especially when the embossing itself is laughably minimal/pointless...

But man, for me, 2013 belongs to Forbidden Planet, without a doubt. Sure, the cover does most of the heavy lifting, but man, what a beautiful job they did on that cover. And the rest is no slouch either. Great spine font, solid back and interior art, my favorite of the year, no question.

My favorites are (random order):

Word War Z (ES) Version. This was really awesome and I wish they would make more such uniqe Steelbooks

Terminator 2 Kimchidvd Version. It`s one of my favorite Movies of all time and I was really impressed with this one.

Face Off Blufans Version. I love it, perfectly done. The Embossing is terrific.

I also really liked:

the Japan Iron Sky Steelbook, I think it is really cool to have japanese on the Spine.

the Japan Mad Max Trilogy Steelbook, mostly because it was the only Steelbook of Mad Max released and also because I really like the Movies.

the German Predator, because it turned out to be a surprise that it would be this great looking, especially the back art was one of my favorites of the year.

the Taiwan Iron Man 3, because it had the best slip of the year.

the UK release of Batman 1-4, because we finally got a great Collection with Inside Art.

several zavvi releases because I finally got Steelbooks of some of my favorite movies, I can`t really decide which one stood out the most. But I thought Taxi Driver and The Rocketeer really delivered.

I would have included The Goonies, but I don't actually want to buy it yet. Also, the biggest disappointment was BluFans Wreck-It Ralph for the awful QC issues.
