It's about that time of year again where we start a casual chat about what your favorite Steelbook is thus far. It must have been released in 2014.

See the release thread here

*Note, this is not a thread for 'nominations' for our later vote in the year-this one is just for you to chime in with your personal faves this year.

Enjoy!

I think The Wolf of Wall Street and 47 Ronin are my favourite steelbook's this year. Both, in my opinion are perfect examples of the steelbook form.

I do like Disney's Robin Hood too.

My all time favourite in my collection though has to be Disney's Aladdin!

I'm only judging based on ones I actually own (surprisingly I haven't bought many from overseas this year), although I think a lot of the Kimchi ones are gorgeous, so I'd probably nominate most of those if I actually owned them.

Here's my top 3 so far:
  • Wolf of Wall Street (UK)
  • Ender's Game - HMV (UK)
  • Filth - Zavvi (UK)
I'm hoping some of the best are still to come! :D

47 Ronin (worldwide) and I don't even own it, but it looks gorgeous.

My two favorites that I do have:
Leon: The Professional (Kimchi exclusive)
Disney's Robin Hood (Zavvi exclusive)

Y'know, even with some great Kimchi, Blufans & HDzeta releases this year, I have to say, I was impressed with:

Braveheart - For catalogue title from a large studio coming with WWA, I was expecting to be disappointed. But it hit the street with a nice textured finish, debossing that should have come with releases like Total Recall, and with new online content as well. Kudos, Fox.
47 Ronin - The film itself may have fallen flat with audiences, but as overblown/outlandish/thin the effects/story/plot were, the steelbook release was an example of striking, understated simplicity, with classy reverse art and a decent interior. A pleasure to unwrap.
