I agree Paul. There are more collectors collecting Blu-ray steelbooks now. Even with the sellout of a few collectors its not like they are moving to a different format like the move from dvd to Blu-ray because there is no other steelbook format to go too. There isn't one on the horizon either. G2 is here to stay. They cant make it any smaller to fit the optical disc inside.

Goonies and The Prestige are back catalogue films

Filth is a New Film not a back catalogue title

Its a fantastic Looking steelbook

There are now lot more steelbook collectors than there was a year ago

With this been a new film lot more customers buying a Steelbook instead of standard version

Again another new Film sells out and your surprised
The Worlds End
Kick Ass 2
Rush

I'm surprised Filth Steelbook was not sold out quicker
Just less than a Month its Sold Out
I was expecting it to be sold out Just before Release Date or 2 weeks after

Will try not to go completely off topic, but do you think Gravity with go OOS soon? There are many titles of new films that have been in stock for a while now. Gatsby, Elysium, Captain Philips is coming up to a month aswell.

It's complete guess work. Even while limited to 4000 copies, Filth can't really be compared to more major releases like The World's End, Kick Ass 2 or Rush. All got pretty major US releases. Filth did not. Filth seems more in line with movies like Only God Forgives, Byzantium, or The Place Beyond the Pines. All still in stock. Not to mention wider releases like The Conjuring or Despicable Me 2, also limited and still in stock. And given some of the comments in this thread, it did not seem like people loved the Steelbook.

If I'm guessing on Gravity, it should stick around. Its a Warner title, and they tend to hang around.

Those titles you mentioned are not limited to 4000
There available from all retailers
Worldwide Steelbook releases with different versions available from lot of countries

Filth Steelbook only version available from Zavvi
There is no other steelbook released from any other country

I'm not convinced, I remember many other 4k titles going oos a few weeks after release, for example dick tracy, apparently sold out the week before release, then it reappeared for 2 weeks around release date then went oos again. 2 weeks later once the hype has set in its back in stock and has been for 6 months now, even after price drops of nearly 70%!

Dick Tracy is a back catalogue title
Its not a new film been available for years to buy in many formats

Filth is a new Film
Only steelbook version available no other country has it
Lot of Zavvi orders from abroad like USA/Germany etc
When a steelbook is only released in one country and its a new first time release and the writer has a cult following worldwide always the chance it will sell out

I think in time this May be a Steelbook that a lot of people wish they'd bought definitely one of the best steels of this year so far

Like me, for example. Have bought so many steels lately and wanted to wait until next month to buy it. It is definitely a nice steel and I guess that is the reason why it is sold out now.

Best wishes,

Michael

I must admit I'm surprised this sold out aswell, compare it to The Conjuring and Byzantium, both Zavvi exclusives, both new films, same price as this, and both still in stock and had price drops.

Glad I picked up my copy a couple of weeks ago.

Still not convinced I got early on as I liked the film, But I just cant see it being a sought after one, even now it has sold out.

It is a nice Steelbook, but it isn't a big title really, I reckon it will go for £20 max on ebay UK.

Any I am off to the pub to watch the rugby.

Why is it so hard for people to understand that this is soldout? Its one of the best steelbook releases this year. 4000 worldwide print. Embossed COCAINE!!!!

This pretty sums up my frustration of being a Zavvi customer...

Zavvi..where 'sold out' never actually means sold out...
