They still have 999+ on amazon so I think you're good:) I'm waiting for a price drop or stock to get low. I'll only buy it at that ridiculous price if it's one of the last in stock.

The crazy thing about Amazon's pricing on this is that the regular Firefly Blu Ray series is only £11.75, compared to £31.75 for the steel...

Is the steel really worth the extra £20 premium?

If Amazon had this sub £20, I'd probably be tempted to double dip on it, or if I didn't already own it, I may have been tempted at £30+ but I can't justify £31.75 for, in effect, the steelbook case (seeing as I already own Firefly on Blu Ray)

Well just for kicks and giggles I went to the amazon site and check up the price of the amaray version of this release. This steel cost almost 3 times what the amaray is. You would think for that type of mark up they could put in individually numbers tags on each steel and say its limited.

IMO the studios are shooting themselves in the foot.

I guess because number of discs and so forth make it more costlier. I remember when Play was considering doing this it was going to have to be priced at like 28.99 with little to no profit. They werent sure if it was a good move...

So its not priced high because they are "sticking" it to ya'.

Maybe its costlier cause of licensing .. idk.

I got mine for £27 shipped to the US with no VAT so I thought that was fairly good.

I would say that the business model is somehow broken then. Consumers look at the price difference and say hmmm for 10 I can get it in amaray or for 32 I can get it on steelbook. I bet the majority go for the lesser cost amaray.

If Amazon can sell the Amray version of Firefly on Blu Ray for £11.75, then surely there is no need, other than profit, for selling the steelbook version for £31.75

I wonder what, exactly, is causing Amazon (and others) to justify charging such a high markup on this steelbook over the non steelbook? I would guess (though, I honestly don't know) that the discs will be the same in both cases (if you forgive the pun!)....

I don't quite understand the Play reasoning that they'd have to sell the steelbook for £28.99 with little to no profit, when they are selling the non steel version for £14 and I'm sure that wont be profit free either...otherwise they wouldn't be selling it...They are/were a business, after all.

For $50 steel of a old series I would expect them to up the ante and give us a premium product. Should have been glossy with a premium finish.

It should have looked like the mockup with a deep blue on the bottom

im sure with most business motto's they have many cost's to maintain (shipping, license, material, etc) and since steelbooks have a larger following now and they know people will buy certain steels for whatever price they put out, why not squeeze extra cents out before a price drop if it doesn't sell well ?... the price and numbers are similar to new movies that are just being released. Firefly is so cheap now because its been out for so long but remember when the regular armary used to for $40 plus ?

imo and my point is most items that are "new" are usually at a higher price, even though an older version exists

I got my amray for £10.99 I would love this.

However 2 kids house I can not and will not be able to look the other half or myself in the face IF I pay £30 for something that I already have and love.

I get that the amount of disks ALSO the back cover and inside do not match the quality and love of the front .

Maybe IF it drops to £20 so not yet for me and it is Killing me to say NO :shots:.
