The German one doesn't have DTS-HD audio though. Just regular old DVD quality Dolby Digital. Whats the point in having top end equipment then? May as well just watch the DVD in that case!

It's been my experience very few people have top notch audio gear. Most people I know buy a top notch TV for picture rarely sound. I only know one person who has serious audio gear.

I have audio gear. Top notch? I don't, but i will say this; alot of blu rays i buy now i look for the " DTS Master Audio". Because when that sound comes through my system..........OH DAMN!! I didn't realize, before i bought it, the massive differance in sound quality and the uptick in movie experience when your tv is connected to a sound system ( not a sound bar, but seperates with sub woofer). Literally, have watched stuff at cinema and on my tv, and always enjoyed the movies more at home. Now, if i buy a blu ray i will ALWAYS go for the release with DTS Master audio........unless its not available in that format. I passed up the Zavvi Rambo steelbook simply because the disc was the same as previous uk release which was "only" dolby digital hd ( if i remember correctly?) but no DTS HD. For me the audio quality is on s pq

.......is now on par with pq. But of course, if you're not bothered, is not a problem.

and remember there are shite mixes like Star Trek Beyond. These audio codecs doesn't matter. All down to how the sound was mixed. I can bet a 640 \Kbps Dolby Digital sounds almost identical to an Atmos encode on a 5.1 / 7.1 setup.

I agree with you. But, for example, all Lionsgate discs are B locked in England. Some companies completely ignore/miss the opportunity to have their products sold world wide. I´m buying this just for the steelbook itself. My fears that it would be b locked were justified at the end. Now I´ll have to buy the disc elsewhere. Part of the game.

These companies aren't missing the opportunity out of choice.

It's all down to licensing agreements with the studios, Eureka even mentions this in their booklets. In their case, Eureka simply distribute titles from other studios, so for example Repo Man and Silent Running are owned by Universal. Universal demand region locking from Eureka in the hopes that overseas customers will buy their own release. Whether that works or not I don't know. It probably does to the average consumer.

With someone like Warner, they distribute their titles worldwide in the main (Watchmen was Paramount in the UK), so don't bother with region locking. You can buy a Warner title from anywhere in the world and it will be region free (I believe). It's the same even from the aforementioned Universal. For the titles they hold worldwide distribution for, say, American Pie, Fast and Furious or Jurassic Park then they're region free.

Gladiator from Warner is region A locked :)
Not all Warner titles are region free.

Looks like it but I've found a Universal release as well which I think is region free.

I was just reffering to Warner releases not all being region free. There are some titles that are locked to a certain region.

I'm sure all warner titles are region free except for the ones they borrowed from paramount that were already region locked like gladiator and the island.

Well, if the image is the same I'll see which one is cheaper. I agree that the extras would be a plus especially if they have new material with the late Roddy Macdowell from whom I'm a fan. It really sucks not being able to watch the extras.
So I thank both you, @Lollard2002 and @BluSteel2012 , for the extra info you brought on this subject. Along with Paul's info you all helped me. Thanks guys!
If you want to watch the main extra you can purchase the longer version of Fright Night Documentary from Cult Screenings UK
http://www.cultscreenings.co.uk/fright-night/
Cult Screenings Blu-ray and DVD's are region Free
Use the option BREWSTER INTL DVD/Blu-ray £20 plus £6 p&p for an address outside the UK

Eureka region lock all their releases regardless if it's region free in other countries
They do this with every release

I am no expert, but i think i get what you're saying. Yeah, if the audio mix on the disc is crap, then you're audio quality is going to be limited anyway, right? Sure. Still, the way i see is that if you have a decent system In place, then you should be able to tweak things here and there, which should enable you to get get optimum sound out of whats on the disc....... I think. If you have a disc that has a fabulous mix, then for sure, this will sound SO MUCH better coming through a decent system. Literally, the uptick in sound quality can bring new life to a movie that you already love........that's what i found, anyway. Again, i'm not not an expert or techno-phobe on this stuff, i'm just going by my first hand experience.

That is true. Warner does not region lock their titles but I have The Island blu-ray in my hand right now that is region B locked and it's a Warner title. Granted that it could be locked to this country alone.

I also found a UK The Island from Warner that is region free.

Note that Warner recycled HD-DVD encode for the Blu-ray. It is encoded at just 17 Mbps whilst the USA release is almost double that. If you watch in a big screen you will notice some minor improvements due to he healthy bit rate. Also Warner's was DD @640 Kbps whilst Paramount was DTS-HD MA although there are only subtle differences between the 2.

If this is currently sold out at Zavvi because they based it on there only being 1000 copies, then as well as bulk order cancellations being relisted, there should be another 1000 copies available that would be sdded to the cancellations number. This would oncreade the window of opportunity even more for those who missed out ( like me), right? Or not?

It went live on 2 different times the 1000 remaining was after the first pre order live time

It went live by an error on October 29th it was available to order for over 2 hours most of the orders was done then
It then went live officially on November 6th and the remaining stock left over from October 29th less than 1,000 was sold very quickly

Large Bulk orders will be cancelled by Zavvi before release date and made available before or after release date
There is also orders that was done on October 29th cancelled by customers and re ordered on November 6th due to price been cheaper on November 6th

This will come back available to order but will sell out fast when it does

The Print run is 2,000 most of this is gone with just bulk orders and customer cancellations stock to be made available
Zavvi don't have a live stock control system they have to manually put back on system cancelled orders stock
