I like the artwork (even though it is blue like most of the Disney/Pixar Collection Steelbooks), but the price is a joke, 3D or no 3D. Surely this is just a mislabelled Zavvi exclusive? I thought this would have slotted right in to their Disney Collection.

a disney steelbook from zavvi that isnt part of their disney steelbook collection... okay.

either 1- they have completely messed up

or 2- its a mistake and they need to update the product info stating its part of the disney collection.

if it isnt part of the disney collection, then to me it makes that collection even more of a farce than it already is.

Hoping this is available nationwide... really can't justify that price if it's a Zavvi exclusive.

reckon the the price on this one set by disney the normal amaray with 3d is set at £20.00 on amazon something tells me disney want a cash cow on this one and such zavvi is told i'm thinking e.g. not an exclusive.

This has somewhat screwed up there collection bearing in mind they haven't named names but this could have well been it but still no names for other 2. I wonder if disney making out on there own on these and maybe just maybe they have had enough of zavvi themsleves and trying this out on there own to see where it goes e.g. makes them more money surprise surprise disney at it again???

what u think :wtf:

In what way is their Disney collection a farce?

They're releasing a 'collection' of Disney steelbooks, they've made no promise that they'll all be exclusives or that they'll even release all Disney titles. All but 1 have been from the classics range (Planes being the exception). It's not like they're numbered so you have to buy them all (or indeed, any).

If Frozen isn't a Zavvi exclusive then what difference does it make? Their collection is still just that, a collection of exclusives. It would be better if no retailer got exclusives, that way they'd be cheaper.

The prices dropped on The Jungle Book and The Little Mermaid because too many were made. This to me was great news. The same goes for any steelbook from any retailer that doesn't sell out.

What is the chances this will be the price and then a week later they drop the price by 30,50% like they have done with a Nightmare before Christmas, zavvi are taking the Mickey with there pre order prices and as much as I would like this as a steel I may just have to wait till the price drops or go else where if not a zavvi exclusive!! ;)

I feel exactly the same. Because of zavvis pricing policies I am not pre ordering anything. If it sells out so what.

Hahaha, this is hilarious and sad... xD.
Zavvi knows they're no competition for Amazon, so they list this product like weeks? before Amazon... Amazon doesn't care. They'll probably list it for 18-21 GBP and they'll sell 50 times more than Zavvi within the first hour they put it on their website :p.

So now we know this will not be Frozen what do you guys think this could be with the higher price tag? I assume zavvi knew frozen wouldn't be an exclusive for then and not number 12 so this could be something special, I'm still hoping for Lion King to be pulled from the vault as I think next year is the 20th anniversary, fingers crossed.

Wonder if it will go like the Monsters University situation....they had a steelbook (the ugly one) but they said it was part of the Pixar collection

I wouldn't mind if Frozen wasn't part of the collection because it means one of the very last Steelbooks Zavvi could do in the far future is a unique, exclusive Frozen steelbook.....this is what I think they should of done with Monsters University, release the world wide ugly looking steelbook then when it comes down to releasing your last Pixar release do a Zavvi exclusive steelbook wit better artwork.

I wonder if that's what they'll do

Someone needs to get them to answer though if it is part of it or not...because if Monsters University was part of the Pixar collection which was world wide then surely this will be as well....however as I've said I'd rather them release this separately from the collection and do an exclusive one in the far future.

If Frozen isn't a Zavvi exclusive then what difference does it make?

It is a farce because the collection has quite clearly not been planned. it seems to have been just a marketing ploy, rather than a pre-planned collection, with an order, a vision. ie, zavvi release finding nemo as a stand alone, with no mention of a so-called pixar collection, then two months later start talking about a pixar collection. it was obviously an impromptu idea, rather than one pre-planned. the same goes for little mermaid and the disney collection that it was later absorbed into, in impromptu fashion.

this is made even more obvious by the fact none of the steelbooks are numbered to give them order (on the steelbooks themselves) and the artwork is completely inconsistent. ie no theme, nothing linking them together as a collection. now they have settled on simply using the bog standard amaray art, completely ignoring the opportunity to create something new, fresh or special for what is suppose to be a premium price collectors edition.

now on top of all this nonsense, frozen (a new disney film) might not even part of the disney collection.

also the way they just keep announcing more films to the collection one at a time (ie disney collection #11 *no title*) rather than just listing them all at once, for example disney 1-20. then we know for sure we are getting 20 steels. but the way they are doing it is as if they are making it up as they go along, they dont know the number of films that will end up in the collection, or the order in which the titles will come.

all these things combined make it a farce in my book.

Totally agreed that the "collection" doesn't really work, but hey as long we're getting the steelbooks for these movies I really don't care how they label them.

Anyways, very excited for Frozen. I've seen it twice already and love it. Hoping Zavvi will include any bonus discs or 3D, but if not I'm sure someone will. I'll hold off until we have more info regarding Amazon, hopefully a Kimchi or Blufans too.

As for the collection not being pre-planned, well that's pretty obvious. Finding Nemo was Zavvi's second exclusive, I don't think they had thought much beyond the next release when that one was announced.

All these things make it great in my book. No stupid numbering forcing you to collect all of the titles. Nothing that will leave your collection looking half complete if Zavvi stop releasing them, you'll just have a neat collection of Disney/Pixar titles. The artwork is mostly awesome, no need for new art for the sake of it. As for how they are announcing the collection, well I don't see how they can do it different. It is impossible to plan months/years in advance, things can change very quickly so they would be foolish to do that. As for it not being pre-planned, Finding Nemo was only their second exclusive, they probably weren't thinking more than one or two releases ahead when that one was announced.
