Well im cancelling my supreme edition pre-order.

Not a chance im spending money like that without having a limited edition item.
I still don’t know if you get the smaller box included in the supreme edition Like the recent fifth element. If you’re paying that you should get all the artwork and packaging.

It is a limited numbered edition, it literally says it in the description. It doesn't say the number, but tbh it doesn't really have to. You see it when you get it.

"The SUPREME Gladiator SteelBook® Edition has laser-etched numbering stating that it is a Limited Edition."

It might have a limited number but only when they've taken all their pre-orders, meaning, if they get 5000 pre-orders on Amazon (unlikely, but just entertain it) then they will etch a number once all orders are in e.g. 4000 of 5000.

Shady ass selling tactics.

They will make up the limited edition number AFTER they've taken the maximum order or should I say maximus order.

Not a chance im buying.

I think the problem they have is how many? If they aren’t committing to a number now, it could go up and up. Thought I saw 2000 somewhere. I could be wrong.

Could actually be doing that. You normally get a number before so you know just how exclusive it is. Surely that’s the point. Just checked the Facebook page and can see now why I thought 2000. It’s just the year of the movie but they put it in brackets. I mean, is there any other great movie called gladiator? They never learn.

Possibly, but not necessarily. They don't have to tell you it's X out of X in advance. It's just limited and numbered, that's all they're claiming it to be. They'd benefit by stating in advance, but just because they're not saying it doesn't make it sketchy.

Yeah i get the gripe, but limited is still limited. Lots of retailers don't finalise runs of items until they gauge demand. This is a first run, slightly risky endeavour. I can totally get why they haven't committed to a figure.

Some premium steel retailers used to do similar with their print runs. Hell, you rarely get a straight answer on blufans or hdz run counts until you see in hand pics of the stickers now, so it's no difference really.

We'll agree to disagree here.

For me, ANY company advertising "limited edition" without committing to a number in advance is sketchy. The very word "limited" needs to defined, limited to what? 100, 1000, 10000, 1M?

You are aware practically every steelbook is, and always has been, advertised as a "limited edition" aren't you? Only a tiny fraction of those releases ever have the run count disclosed. We shouldn't get too entitled with this stuff. I get the gripe with something this pricey, but that statement is nonsensical imo.

I'm a bit late but £100 is crazy for what you're getting in the supreme edition. The everythingblu edition was like £45-60 a few years back and was so much better value for money, I already have so many copies of gladiator unless we get a superior slip and steelbook then what's the point?
I think I'm finished with the double dipping on steelbooks unless it's a superior release or is a movie I love to bits.
