I honestly don’t get the amount of traffic to this topic, breaking it down to the basics the SteelBook art is awful, bossed or debossed, it is still rubbish.
As for the extras, meh!
I love the movie and I have bought it many times but this is really a pathetic release and stupidly overpriced, if people actually buy this then the studios will think that this is actually what we want.

sold out :/
This is getting absolutely cooked on twitter from quite a few angles. I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s sold out to create hype. But then again a lot of Europeans seem to like ToC and they stay quiet a lot of the time so who f**king knows

Regardless, the sold out for the Titan edition is hilarious

Remember this was the case when ToC first hit the scene with their previous editions though, then folks soon got fed up of the lacklustre designs, extras and poor film choices... oh, and not to mention the small but unnecessary price increase. I only expect the same will happen again, since £50/£100 is a lot to fork out each time. I reckon the buzz of these being something new on the market gives a lot of collectors FOMO, but that'll probably eventually wear off.

It's funny to see all the dislike for this set. I usually hate ToC releases as well and own not one single release by them. But this one for some reason really appeals to me. It's minimalistic ad sort of stark, which fits to the ancient roman aesthetic, I don't know, the steelbook could have been something else, but I really love that slip and the pin. The artcards are odd choices, would have prefered diffeent poster artworks as these, not some randon Bts shots. But oh well. Since I don't own this on Blu Ray or 4K I'll definitely try to get this.

Yeah I suppose it all depends on what re re re re re re re releases they choose to do next with this style (I say that with pure sarcasm too). I honestly like the Titan slip and pin but also the over use of the helmet does my nut in, the same for most of us. Steel isn’t doing it for me at all but it could go either way in hand and possibly look decent. But again the f**king helmet on the back is so god damn annoying. Which they haven’t shown yet, but then why would they? It’s on every f**king thing else. Also As you previously mentioned, I too wouldn’t want to display this steel so the stand is pretty pointless too and it don’t help it has the film title on it. But I’d also love to own this film in 4K because like many of us I love it. But yeah fomo will certainly kick in for a lot of collectors I suppose. The slip is certainly a step up from the PET box. I think the whole PET thing only works with slips anyway. Not boxes. They are too flimsy for all that and the top openings are aggy to deal with once opened. And if you have one where the bottom part is starting to open then it’s just as annoying to close up.

If this was around £35-£40 (for the Titan slip) I would of considered it. Also when the other countries start to open up pre orders this will be back for the U.K. market where it’s sold out from. I still want to see how it all looks in hand with photos and video. Never know it could sway me and you can save a fiver with a code. But I’m not holding my breath and fomo won’t kick in for me with it.

I reckon the buzz will 100% die after 2 or 3 releases with the £100 editions. Look at what you get with the EB editions for the same price.... the difference is crazy. Honestly, the metal poster is the worst idea with this whole thing. One of the worst ideas I’ve seen in a while. Yeah great art, but it’s not practical at all. I don’t think it will last. Either that or they’ll only have only a few releases each year going forward.

TofC releases just don’t sync with me. I really, really, really dislike this set and hate the steelbook. I’m glad some of you will enjoy it, but I haven’t liked any of their releases (yet).
Only 2001 for me. Which says a lot because I don’t really like the film. But the ToC version Is great. The steel, slip art, patch etc

Problem is i do have every TOC release, i do like a complete set, but it's not nice to be bent over backwards by this.
Also was able to pick many up cheap from previous releases by waiting, but i've no idea how this one will go.

i wonder whats the rationale behind fomo for a movie that has been released 10 times already and most of them much nicer than this one.. what exactly will happen if you miss out on this lol.. the hdn forum isnt going to come home to you and judge you.. just ignore the guys who praise literally every trash release and act like iTs ThE oNe To HaVe only because they missed out on the actual good editions

Same. And I have both editions ordered. But honestly I am struggling to see the value for £100 vs what you got in the fifth element for £100.

Personally I think, if the £100 edition doesn't sell well then they'll probably drop the idea and call it a 1 off special for their 20th release.
Anyway, I don't own Gladiator, happy to pick up the normal edition to go with Blade Runner and The Thing. And that's my three. :joy:
