I know many people are happy now, but this makes me kind of sad knowing that WEA Asian steels are now getting reprinted here in Europe (maybe even in other overseas countries). That does not make any sense to me and this is not the idea of offering WEA collector editions... Maybe we should ask HDZETA how this could happen. Usually we collectors are willing to spend a bit more on WEA editions and thus this is not fair business. However that is only my personal opinion and I also know live will go on and that there are really more important things. But whatever. This is my hobby and thus I care.

Best wishes,

Michael

IMO, this is just the beginning. More to follow. Forrest Gump Play.com Steelbook was released by HDZeta and will soon be by Blufans and FA. So no title is safe these days.

Totally agree with you on this Michael. Again, just goes to show what they think of the collectors. The people who keep this market going.

WEA, but for how long nowadays? Nothing is ever exclusive any more.

At the time, I sold my empty spare HDZETA case for twice what they're looking for this now! :naughty:

Zetas might of paid for the exclusivity of the art for a certain amount of time and now that's ended

Didn't FAC do the same for Birdman? For example. And I believe that's run out so technically another retailer could use that art or fox as standard WWA release

Steelbook distribution rights belongs to the film studio distributor not a retailer
Hdzeta release is still exclusive as it had other contents as in the Full Slip/Lenti/Booklet/artcards etc and was released in China

A film studio since steelbooks itself it's their property they can re release any product after a period of time in another country or other countries
A retailer in another country can have a exclusive for a period of time and once that expires can be re releaaed
Universal owns the distributions rights to the steelbook itself and the Blu-ray Discs

Yes, but then these steels shouldn't be advertised as WEA in the first place.

This release frustrates me. While it's fantastic news for people that missed out on the HDzeta one this is also a kick in the teeth for those who shelled out their hard earned cash for the bells and whistles edition. As nice as the slip on the HDzeta is, I'm debating selling mine to get this cheaper alternative. Ah, this addiction continues to cripple me inside.

I would very much doubt of the HDzeta steelbook was a consideration in this pressing. They were simply released in Italy as a steelbook and I doubt very much if the distributor would have been aware of the HDzeta in another territory. Simply down to pot luck. We got a deluxe Lawrence of Arabia steelbook form China but the European steelbook, oh dear so I do think there is a lot of random chance in the country and what they plan to do. We could just as easily got a pop art steelbook (thank Goodness we didn't !)

But why are these exactly the same then? I think they used the already existing HDZETA designs etc.
