I know this isn't the right thread, but I keep hearing about this Blufans exclusive Pacific Rim also. Is there a thread for that? I can't seem to find one.

Edit - DB beat me to it.

I didn't actually see Gravity until this past week. When Bluefans first announced this I wasn't too interested, but now I must say that I'm probably anticipating this even more than Pacific Rim BF O_O.

Hi, I'm new to the forum and wondered if someone could let me know what the group buys are all about? I would assume it's everyone who wants a copy of this putting money in and all getting a copy of the film in question(perhaps cheaper?!) If someone could confirm that I would be grateful!

Secondly, is this open to all members or do you need a certain post count / trader score? I would be very interested in a GB for this film :)

its usually for a title that is from somewhere that dont post worldwide, everbody who want's a copy posts how many copies and there location then the host buys every single copy because they have access, you pay a little bit extra then if you had access to them but you dont, that's what makes them so good. that's the best description i can give since i've never actually been in one

The only requirement to join a GB (group buy) is 30 non-spam posts.

Prices are usually at cost + fees + shipping.

Once you have the 30 non-spam posts you'll be granted access to the group buys.

When the group buy thread opens up you post your request for the number of copies you want (usually you are allowed only one copy but sometimes more) and the country to which you want the package shipped.

Some days or weeks later (varies by group buy) you will get a private message from the group buy host requesting payment. Sometimes it is for the total payment due (unit cost + fees + shipping) and sometimes it is just for the unit cost plus fees. In the latter instance, a separate private message will be sent to you requesting payment for just the shipping.

Then you just sit back and fret over your steelbook's arrival.

We are so far behind the rest of the world it seems as far as steelbooks go, hopefully 2014 is the year we get it together.

I've been waiting for the last two years for the US to get their act together. Best Buy has improved a little with some of the older releases, I'd like to see them start getting some newer ones. Gravity would be a great place for them to start the year off right.

You're both right.
This release would definitely spark a lot of interest, especially in a steel book.

I came across this somewhere... What do people think about this being the cover? It's certainly different, and very visually striking. Although I don't really think it captures the tone of the movie at all...

It's nice but like you say it doesn't capture the tone if the film. Literally, it's too warm an image.
