Anyone who has this in hand, can you please let us know if the Silent Space version is really included, or if that report was just due to older promo material?
Don't let me put you off dude I think if there's one movie that warrants 3D it's this one. I just hate them slapping the '3D' all over the steelbook and artwork is all...I mean twice on the spine ffs.
No worries mate I was actually going for the 2D anyway but when I saw the steelbook had second thoughts. You're right, the 3D all over it isn't really worth it. The thing that it'll be down to for me is special features...if the 3D version has more I'm inclined to get that one, but it's not very clear on any versions and everywhere's saying 2-disc for the 2D release and 3-discs for the 3D lenticular/steelbook. Weight-wise the 2D version feels as heavy as the 2D version of Pacific Rim, and the 3D/steelbook do feel a little weightier...wether that's just 2 discs or 3 I do not know.
I'm inclined to go for the 2D because a) I don't have 3D glasses for my TV and don't care that much for watching 3D at home, b) because the slipcover is really nice, and c) because it's in the 2 for £25 offer at HMV on release (and I can get it with Wadjda, which is cheapest at HMV). 3 reasons enough? Will have to see what is going on with the special features!
I'll up some shots of the back in a sec for anyone who wants confirmation.
EDIT: snapshot of the steelbook J-slip came out a bit blurry so here's the 2D reverse (basically the same apart from 3D detailing)...
UK 2D Amaray version is 1 disc only.

Bummer...ah well, I guess they managed to fit almost 4 hours of extras onto the one disc? The film's only 90 minutes, probably explains how they could do that!
EDIT: bit odd it literally says "2 discs" and "3 discs" on every site I've checked. Methinks there will be some complaints to retailers? It says 2 discs on the system at work, and on Amazon...Zavvi...Play etc. I'm fine with it though as they managed to fit a decent amount of extras on by the sounds of things - not that fussed about the Silent Space version not being there just glad Aningaaq was included.
I'm so on the fence about buying this. I don't really have hell of a lot of use for a 3D disc, which I wouldn't mind ofc, but the "3D" is placed so obnoxiously prominently on the cover I can't just ignore it, but I really like steelbooks though (not a fan of blu amarays tbh) ughhhhH
I don't suppose anyone has any word yet if this is Region A compatible? I assume no, but it would be nice not to have to make the double purchase...
