A Little clarification

Honestly, I never finished it. LOL. I just got so frigin tired of watching. They were at that Bar for like an hour and nothing happened. I forgot where I left off on that movie. Maybe, I'll re-watch it but I was sooo bored I turned it off. This is the only movie that I saw by Tarantino that I don't like.

Hi there
i understand why you didnt like Death Proof .
The reason is , if you watched Death Proof as a solo movie ( which it sounds like from your description of the one hour long bar scene ) then you did not watch the version that was part of the Grindhouse movie ...this version is shorter and quicker to the point than the stand alone movie ...
Grind house was never screened in German cinemas in its intended version hence the " for the first time in germany " at the bottom of the steelbook.
When tarantino heard that certain countries would not be showing Grindhouse in its entirity he added scenes orginally left on the cutting room floor ( in this case the extended bar scene ) to increase the run time .
I guess that since Germany has a real problem with zombie stuff ( all zombie games are cut or banned) they had to edit Planet terror and therefore play it seperatley which then left them with a shorter Death Proof which had to be re edited to make a movie length movie .
my wife had not heard about Machete either since she had never got to see Grindhouse or the fake trailers.... thats is until she met me and came to south africa ..where we play it all

Mine arrived yesterday! Really pleased I finally picked this up

I've also got the standard amarays of Death Proof and Planet Terror extended films on the way. I've also picked up Hobo With A Shotgun and Machete to complete the small Grindhouse collection :)

Was there a sudden restock or something?? Where are people getting these from all of a sudden? I remember some months back the 'back in stock' thread being dominated by this, day after day it would go in and out of stock. I have had mine for some time so i'm happy. Also I got just Death Proof on it's own recently and it's is in my top 5 all time steelbooks :D

Yup I'm certainly glad I got it. Best version out there too, DTS-HD English soundtrack and the most extras too!

hi cooey, I've this a while and not got round to watching it yet and just assumed that it was already the extended and uncut versions. So what i want to know are the UK seperate amarays the extended editions (like the USA ones) if so i might have to get them, plus there have Dolby TrueHD soundtrack unlike the grindhouse uk version.

Yep the UK versions are the full extended editions. Both have the Dolby True HD soundtracks although the scratch free version of Planet Terror just has a Dolby Digital 5.1 track.

Yeah this steelbook is literally just the grindhouse version of the 2 movies (both shortened versions of the movie with the faux trailers in the middle, as it was meant to be seen)

The separate releases of the movies are the extended ones :)

Thanks sigill and cooey, looks like buying them and doing the usual disc swap, but I think I will watch the German version first (ain't seen these since there was released in the US on DVD) and see what the DTS-HDMA track is like.
