Fully agree

Well if the purple thing does mean nothing like that is approved then that squashes that for a slip but I've still got my fingers crossed

I mean, if posters can get approved with a purple colour-scheme, why couldn't slips for a steelbook? I doubt Gunn has that much decision-making power. Plus, let's be real, steelbooks are still a pretty niche product, and even if this has a print run of 2500-3000, that's not much product going out into the world for Gunn to get upset about.

Was just going off the back of what wreck said. Wouldn't know of the purple thing means for slips also

If he really wanted to avoid the colour purple then he should have picked another colour and used that theme for the entire film.

Why did this get made then? :wacky:

Also does that mean we have no chance of seeing it on a full slip?

And the artist who made the awesome goonies and empire strikes back esque posters didn't listen to that either (not that they would get approved for home media)

I'm just simply repeating what James Gunn said from his very mouth on IG live. ;) Some directors have more pull in regards to what gets done to their work. I have a suspicion given its Disney that its more their call, but it was James' that he didnt want much purple in the film. I dont know the reasoning its just someone asked and he did admit to purposely doing that. Maybe he has some type of idea of each film having a diff color associated to it. *shrug* that doesnt mean it translates to packaging. So I'm sure could probably pull off official pre approved art like that imax poster that is purple but just recreating new purple art might be harder to pull off if it were up to James Gunn' since he's on record for avoiding purple as much as possible with GOTG2. Wish they would have asked WHY tho as I'm sure their is a bigger scheme or just an aesthetics thing with him.

As far as the Goonies mock up design those are all technically official ... atleast official for marketing as Disney put that on with The Poster Posse which is a collective of artists who marketing of studios hire for promotional purposes leading up to films. 2 of the artists that HDN work with regularly joined Poster Posse so I follow their work closely.

Ah ok, so there's still hope

Cheers

Yeah I knew about the goonies poster and the Star Wars one being commissioned. I love both of them.
I'm trying to get a goonies one somehow so I can frame and put up next to vol 1 but no luck just yet
