Response from ES about the finish they are going for on this release:
There’s an emboss on the title treatment, gloss varnish on the front, cutting out the characters and a dull varnish covering the back.

The red text and red image on the back is also a pantone red, which should be a bright pillar box red.

One very cool UK Ninja ordered me a copy! Glad to have gotten in on it. Only thing that chaps me a bit, is that UK members were allowed in on the GB as they had all the access to get theirs from the site. No worries.

These are steelbooks. STEEL. BOOKS. Movies in a case made of steel. That's all they are and for the past week or so people have got seriously carried away with personal sniping etc. and seem to have forgotten that there are more important things in life! This isn't the first one to sell out and certainly won't be the last!

I haven't read the attack, but all I can say is Gbdragon is a true gentleman, he talks so much sense. I don't understand why people hate each other so much, the world is so much better when we live in peace...

All getting a bit nasty and insulting on here a lately, sincerely hope it isn't going to become the norm......

Staff and mods are aware. Personally, I've temporarily shelved some site projects I was working on to keep track if all of this monkey business.

Its not in the spirit of why Wreck and Horhay started this forum and we're going to make sure this behavior doesn't continue.

Not sure if we want to start bringing out the ban hammer, but further personal attacks will not stand. :(

No it isn't. We try and set a very friendly atmosphere on the forum. That is why this forum is so popular, we welcome everybody and treat all members equally. We need to respect each others opinions. Off course people won't always agree, that's the nature of the hobby but name calling and personal attacks will not be tolerated. If you have a problem with anything you can contact one of the moderators. Can we please try and get back onto the topic of the steelbook. Thanks for your understanding.

Won't somebody think of the children.

But seriously I'm well up for this steel. If ES keep up with these exclusives, many (like me) will keep buying them just to keep a complete set. And I didn't consider myself that sort of collector right now haha

Me too. I love the idea that the UK are getting some properly exclusive steels.

I've only just noticed the description of the finish in the OP. Sounds like it's going to be a really nice steelbook IMO, as I personally love the artwork. :)

I honestly feel that this will become THE UK steelbook once it's released. Correct me if I am wrong, but have we ever had a UK release limited to only 1000 copies? Add on to that the addition of the sticker, plus the fact that it's a beautiful steel, and you're looking at a potential UK grail.

At the end of the day, sometimes people use their knowledge of the steel game to their advantage. It doesn't always mean they are making money off the steel game to pay their rent, or keep the lights on etc. Some people have more disposable income then others, and for those who don't they often want to collect just as much as those with more disposable income. If that means buying a few extra copies and then spinning them later for a profit so they can continue to add items to their collection at the rate they would like then my hats off to them.

Bottom line is there are many diff ways to collect and we dont know each and every person's financial state of their life so it might not be the wisest or kindest thing to do to point the finger.

When I sell stuff on ebay, 99% of the funds I get back from the sale are going towards another purchase or puchases of steels, digis, collectibles, etc. All of which the items can be seen on these forums. With the crazy amount of steels pumping out and me having a very general taste I'm always wanting probably more editions then the normal collector.

I'm not stating these things to defend anyone or to chastise anyone either. I'm just stating a side to something that others may not be familiar with.

Back in 2008 and 2009 there was like 2 different types of steel collectors since releases came so far inbetween. Now there's like 20+. We see collectors come and go and I welcome the new group that are very selective, but on the same hand people have to respect those who've stuck around long enough and had to evolve to keep at it.

Remember its all about having a great personal collection and having fun. Fun can come much easier and plentiful when we're all sharing joy together.

So let's continue to be nice to others and share our common intrest.

Not sure if we want to start bringing out the ban hammer, but ...

The ban hammer eh?! :naughty: That sounds like it would look pretty good on the shelf next to my Thor steelie :D I wonder how limited it is

To the staff and mods, you do a fantastic job of keeping things in check around here. And for those of us who are more likely to stick around in the long run it's always hugely appreciated. No one minds a bit of passion for the hobby, but name calling just needs to be left in the playground please kids

These ES steels have really caught everyone by surprise and it's so good to see everyone getting all excited. Gotta love these limited releases and the hype they generate. For me it's just spot on for how I like to collect now so I'm intrigued to see what else they've got up their sleeves. Add to this the Blufans releases, n3wk1d specials and any other potential limited beauties on the way and I say we've got ourselves a little spice back into the hobby

To everyone contributing, keep up the great work

Right, I've been keeping quiet all day, but now it's my turn to have my say.

Have to agree with the comments as have detected a lot of bickering in a number of threads over recent weeks. I'll hold my hands up to posting some Ebay links on here, which haven't helped matters.

A sticky need to be put on the forum that threads for steelbooks are only about the steelbook itself.

No discussion about what people are doing with their copies etc, prices on Ebay. There are threads for that elsewhere, so I think it's time to finally put this to bed, as like I said pretty much every thread on here defaults to this once a title is sold out. Failure to adhere to this should result in temporary bans, hence the need for the sticky as it's dull as hell to read.

Anything that is limited in numbers (not just steelbooks) are going to attract interest, because of the exclusivity of it. If you can't deal with that, then tough.

One very cool UK Ninja ordered me a copy! Glad to have gotten in on it.

It surprises me a bit that people don't make more use of the community in this way. Enough people have traded and dealt with one another on here that they know each other pretty well, and asking someone you know and have dealt with before to stick an extra order in for an exclusive isn't really a big deal. I'm sure there are plenty of UK Ninjas who would have been quite happy to order a copy for an overseas buddy if only they were asked. Maybe next time? ;)

Man the hype around these ES steel is nuts right not. Sort of regretting not plunging on these when I had the chance. But like someone else said, these caught people by surprise selling out so fast. And they arent even popular titles!

Just imagine the pandemonium if ES release some Avengers phases 2 steels in this manner lol? I predict a steelbook apocalypse

Word on the street is that there might be a second GB for this
