Response from ES about the finish they are going for on this release:
There’s an emboss on the title treatment, gloss varnish on the front, cutting out the characters and a dull varnish covering the back.

The red text and red image on the back is also a pantone red, which should be a bright pillar box red.

Like I said a few quid more. Arrow titles have come down a bit since I posted. But this is a brand new release, limited to 1k. Arrow titles are really old and loads of them. To each there own but I know where I would prefer to spend my pocket money. https://www.hidefninja.com/forums/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif

Your argument is bizarre. I fail to see what the age of the film has to do with anything, and you appear to be acknowledging that Entertainment Store are using the limited availability as justification for inflating the price.

It is justification at inflating the price. Blufans do it but very few seem to have a problem with their releases. Can we just stop talking about the price? It's quite clear that it has divided opinion, there's nothing more that can be said.

Apologies for singling anyone out last night, I let my frustration with this disgrace of a release get the better of me. I had to log out and turn the computer off to stop myself from getting banned.

I love steelbooks.

I thought the film was pretty good. Always liked the story of Hansel And Gretel, and liked the new spin that was put on it.
And really disappointed to miss this steelbook at standard price.
Looks like I'll be paying double now.

the price is pretty hefty, but less than plenty of us would pay for a steelbook that we really want after its gone oop (iron man for eg? the raid? roger rabbit)
why shouldnt the retailer try a high price point if they want? if the price was too much they wouldnt sell. truth is, both this and jack reacher are veeery limited, hence desirable, hence sold out fast.
i ordered 2 copies ( 1 for me, 1 for a friend overseas) and unless i dislike the film i will be keeping it. yes i feel its overpriced compared to soo many other steelbook releases (especially since play.coms £9.99 price point last year, and £14.99 for new releases)
but remember this is a new film, not back catalogue, and it is low print run, so production costs will be higher.
i think these exclusives will be very very desirable in the coming years, and we shouldbe happy that the uk has some real rarities now.
i think we now lead the market for steelbooks, which is a great step forward, compared to 2 years ago when we trailed germany, canada, US etc.
for any collectors that are uk based and dont buy imports, times are good.

I'm sure the smaller requested quantity for the retailer cost them more money per copy too, therefore they are passing on the cost. This sold out in a day, so apparently people don't have an issue with the cost.

I actually considered getting in on this group buy. Was hoping that the shipping could shave a few dollars off the top. But at £45 shipped, I just can't do it. That's $70 USD, even more than I had thought! I'll just either hope for a steel in the Americas or get a real nice embossed slip.

Easily passed on this. Despite all the hype, lack of the 3d version was a big turn off for me. Germany will get my $s for this release unless there is a north american release. Great looking steel though.
