Response from ES about the finish they are going for on this release:
There’s an emboss on the title treatment, gloss varnish on the front, cutting out the characters and a dull varnish covering the back.

The red text and red image on the back is also a pantone red, which should be a bright pillar box red.

My order list contains Aladdin, T2 and Hansel and Gretel amongst others. Each of them highly sought after and anticipated, but after the maelstrom created by Jack Reacher, this next release from ES has my mouth drooling!

E-mail from Entertainment Store... looks like peeps got charged early for this!
Hi,

Firstly, thank you for your order for the Hansel & Gretel Blu-Ray Steelbook via the Entertainment Store on Play.com

Unfortunately due to a systems error at Play.com, your order has been processed and your debit or credit card charged for your order today. This wasn’t intentional, as the order was not supposed to be charged for until the week before release when we ship the item.

As this is a mistake on Play’s part, I wanted to email you to apologise and offer you the option of either cancelling your order and receiving a full refund or keeping your order live - it will be shipped the week before release for delivery on 24th June.

Thank you for your patience with this matter – if you could let me know how you want to proceed I will take the appropriate action here.

Regards,

Alastair

I've just had the same email, so have sent them one back asking where I stand if they can't supply the steelbook, not sure what protection I will have as the transaction will have taken place 6 weeks back.

Just had the below response:-

Hi Michael,

*

Thanks for your email.

*

Play have the money for 6 weeks, so they’re taking the interest not us!

*

We are still bound by the Distance Selling Regulations from the point of dispatch not when Play took the money, so if something does go wrong then you will be covered.

*

Regards,

*

Alastair

Hmmmm......I doubt anyone's going to cancel their order for fear of not being able to secure another copy again. So most people will be left in the situation of having to fork over the money now. Sounds dodgy to me.

These first 2 exclusives for ES have hardly gone smoothly have they? The first one arrived with a full print run of defective steels, and now this. They handled the first one very well and anyone who ordered JR even benefited from ending up with twice as many copies, but this one is just poor. I know it's Play who are taking the payments but it's still very poor, ES should be paying Play for these instead of making customers potentially miss out because they don't have the funds available due to being told payment would be taken in over a months time.

I wonder where I stand if something happens to Entertainment store before this is released. Would I still get protection from my credit card company or not?

Come on, give the guys at ES a break. They handled the first issue (that wasn't their mistake) brilliantly, I'm sure they'll do the same again for those who have problems (because of another problem that again is not their mistake).

Have you ever bought from Play before? If your payment gets declined then your order is cancelled and it will then become available for somebody else to buy, so I'm sorry but I don't believe this will be handled in a way which will satisfy everyone. I gave them a break and praised them highly on the first issue, but this one is just poor even if it's not directly their fault.

Anyway, let's get this back on topic as this isn't the ES thread.

You should be covered by your bank if you paid by debit or credit card via the cards dispute service, its just the hassle more than anything.

Not to worried if I get charged early have the money in there especially for that in my savings so it's just a quick transfer over from saving to my main card.

Still terrible people are getting charged early though especially seeing as they claim to only charge upon despatch

I suspect that payments are being rolled out over the course of this week. Play and Zavvi both do this quite often, taking payments and dispatching items at different times throughout the week, I don't know if it's easier to stagger it like this or whether there's some other logical reason as to why they do this. I think it's only the 2 GB hosts (myself and CC) who really need to worry, because our orders alone are worth over £800.

Sorry for going off topic, mods. But this talk is pertinent to this release and if you delete these posts I fear that members who may not already be up to date on the payment situation may end up missing out on this info.
