Commas are also used as decimal separators Paul. In fact it's more common for the decimal separator to be a comma than it is to be a dot. So it's not "meant" to be a dot if that's what you meant.

The truth is I was picking on BluSteel as an inside joke.

No.
"EUR (or €) is the measuring unit. In English, ‘EUR’ (or the euro sign ‘€’) is placed before the figure, separated by a (non-breaking) space, e.g. EUR 30. In French and German the order is reversed, e.g. 30 EUR." Source

No, it's completely the opposite, but thanks. The majority of the countries using the Euro as their currency are not English speaking countries!! We're all wrong?
Republic Ireland and UK don't use comma in listing retail prices if value is below 1,000 example £999.99 or €999.99
Decimal. is always used before cents or pence value example price is €1,500.99 or £1,500.99

The EU commission says English language use before price when using € symbol and be format example €3.50

When using Euro in word format you use Euro after the the price example 29.99 Euro

As Zavvi is a UK retailer it will use the same format other UK and Ireland retail business use and format UK and Republic of Ireland banks use

There is always some petty reason for people to get into arguments on this site. It's humorous, though.
