Oh, why is it that 68.32% of steelbooks releases are turds (at the very least they're certainly not good films) ? :(

Yes, I haven't seen Hercules, and this probably isn't nearly as bad as Renny Harlin's film (which also got a French steelbook, a good-looking one actually), but I'd much prefer less obvious titles that are better films than every single "tentpole" action/fantasy/sci-fi film.

In the year 2014 alone, among French steelbooks, we've had masterpieces such as:

- White House Down.
- Machete Kills.
- The Family.
- Escape Plan.
- Godzilla (1998).
- Justice League: War.
- I, Frankenstein.
- Robocop (2014).
- Nurse 3D.
- Non-Stop.
- The Legend of Hercules.
- Need for Speed.
- The Amazing Spiderman 2.
- Stalingrad.
- 300: Rise of an Empire
.

Now, I'm not very picky, but even I would have a hard time calling any of these genuinely good. Some are passable entertainment like Robocop or Non Stop, but overall it's pretty weak. Obviously some better titles came along, like the Centre Leclerc - Espace Culturel lenticular wave that expanded beyond that store (Prometheus, Titanic, Rio, Ice Age 4, Avatar, Life of Pi), Riddick, Robocop (1987), Crying Freeman, Turbo, Inside Llewyn Davis (nice surprise to see that having a steelbook!), Casse-tête chinois, Captain Phillips, Snowpiercer, Frozen, La belle et la bête, Cap Am 2, Godzilla (2014), etc., but still, it bugs me that when FNAC gets an exclusive (they don't have dozens every year), it's a Brett Ratner film.

Good thing they also have an Edge of Tomorrow exclusive coming soon, that helps balance things out for the better :).

hercules title is debossed ... nice fnac release once again, extra blu-ray this time instead of the usual booklet

we got a "Version Longue en Blu-Ray" as a sticker in front of the sealed item, along with "fnac édition spéciale ..."

There's also a sticker saying you get a €10 voucher credited on your FNAC card for the purchase of this item, that's a nice incentive. The steelbook looks good, debossed title, sticker and all...

Still, much like Transformers 4 (one of three variants available is a FNAC exclusive), that didn't make me want to buy it.

I'm trying to stick to my New Year's resolution not to buy films simply because they're in a steelbook, sometimes I couldn't resist in 2014 :asshat:.

Last year, just because of my addiction to steelbooks, I bought:

- Cowboys & Aliens - €23,29 (HDN GB / HMV exclusive - a small batch was available, I jumped on the offer, even though I'm not a big fan, this film could/should have been awesome but it wasn't).

- The Lone Ranger - €19,34 (Zavvi - returned in stock, price dropped and Wreck announced only 60 or so were available, it sold out for good the next day (€10 cheaper than the FNAC exclusive)... it's not the turd all critics make it out to be, but it's not as fun as Pirates of the Caribbean).

- The Amazing Spiderman 2 - €14,99 (FNAC exclusive - I used a €10 voucher, got a €5 voucher for the purchase, I had to the first one in steelbook so I caved in, even though it's nowhere near Sam Raimi's Spiderman 1 & 2).

- The Hangover Part III - €13.75 (amazon.de - big price drop, and I wanted to complete the set even though I'm not sure I laughed once throughout the film).

- Thor: The Dark World - €28 (Zavvi exclusive - I didn't want to leave a gap in my Marvel collection, even though to me it is Marvel's worst film since they started building their Universe in 2008, imo).

- Ender's Game - €25 (HDN GB / HMV exclusive - awesome glossy Mondo art: I needed this, even though the steelbook has had more thought put into it than the film).

- In Time - €9,78 (amazon.fr - lightening deal, and much like Cowboys & Aliens it had the potential to be so much more than that).

- Avatar - €30 (FNAC - it had a lenticular card, so I couldn't resist, even though Avatar is one of the most overrated films in recent history, imo (that story... is so bad and childish and without nuance/personality)).

- Transcendance - €19,99 (FNAC - used a €10 voucher, and the steelbook is awesome and there's a pretty good lenticular card ; I haven't seen the film and I'm not really in a rush).

These are my 9 shame-purchases for the year 2014, and I intend to have none in 2015 so that means saying "no" to that Hercules steelbook :chicken:.

has any of you seen this movie? Sorry, I found the really bad is rare for me but also in our country clearly too expensive ...: /

Apart from Thor I completely agree with your verdicts on all of those turkeys especially Avatar!
