I love watching movies, and I collect Steelbooks because it's a collector's item, I can spend hours in front my steelbooks shelf in a week just for appreciate them, rearrange them or take a picture of them and imo compare to another collectible item (like action figure or even movies gift set) it's no need a lot of space, but I don't know if someday I will have thousands of them

I like to collect things was the Answer I chose but also the way standard blus drop in value makes me sick

The number one reason I love collecting steelbooks is because of the beautiful art work that can be achieved when you can look at a steel and know that they put a lot of time and effort into creating it. The second reason is the adrenaline rush you feel when you get a steel in the mail, open it up and marvel in all it's glory. Only other passionate steelbook collector's can truly comprehend this feeling.

I collect them cause I love collecting collectors items! Although im on a budget I strive to get the best looking steels. Really love the superhero films and art on the steels as well. My favourite superhero Batman has several steels as well, so that's what started my collection.

love the packaging compared to amaray. because of steelbooks i hate looking at any amaray case anymore. whenever i can get the steel ill jump at the chance.

Exactly!! I LOVE that Bluray Steelbooks (G2) are all exactly the same size, whereas amarays seem to come in all sizes and shapes. I also agree to the potential increase in value, but this is really the exception. Especially here in Germany everything gets a rerelease eventually. Still, I love buying and collecting steelbooks and I bought plenty of movies I never would have bought as a regular Bluray or even cheap DVD..

I know I'm addicted and I'm double dipping like crazy now (bought 5 of the media markt real heroes editions and dislike them so much, that I bought Kick Ass, Hot Fuzz, Shaun, Scott Pilgrim and Hellboy 2 as regular steelbooks in the meantime....).

I just wish that more movies I realyl love will get the steelbook treatment and not just the usual blockbuster suspects. I mean I'm sure Transformers is a good movie, but I would much rather see a "Dark City", "Babel", "Crash", "12 Monkeys", "Mulholland Drive", "Usual Suspects" or "Lost Highway" steelbook.... but I'm rambling - count me in for a free Sucker Punch!!!!
