Steelbook & Collecting FAQ's:

Q: Where can I find a list of Steelbooks released?

A: blu-raysteelbooks.com

Q: Can I play movies contained inside Steelbooks on my Blu-Ray Player?

A: It depends-Blu-Rays are coded with Region A, B or C. Most Blu-Rays are "unlocked", regardless of what region they are, but it's always a good idea to check this forum or web resources before buying, as some are "locked".

Q: What are the differences between Steelbooks™, Iron Packs™, Metal Paks™, Viva Metal Boxes, Tins, etc?

A: Check out pics and discussion in our forum here

Q: What does "G1" and "G2" mean when discussing Steelbooks?

A: "G1" (1st Generation) refers to a Blu-Ray in a DVD-sized case. And "G2" (2nd Generation) refers to a Blu-Ray in a Blu-Ray-sized case.

Q: How to fix a loose disc on a steelbook you want to keep factory sealed that came with a floater?

A: Fixing a loose disc

Q: How do I navigate international shopping sites?

A: You can download a free 'add on' for most browsers called 'Google Translate'. Once you have it installed, the pages will translate automatically.

Q: I have many more questions-is there a general list of links to help me learn about Steelbooks, protecting them, etc?

A: Yes, here

is not funny to browse all the steelbooks at ebay?

its a balance dose of
"Yes, ok, you want hunderds of dollars for that, huh!"
"If I only could get it"
"Why oh why I let that pass!"

for me it is :movie:

Shep-Per forums, The Hurt Locker and Iron Man 2 Steelbooks are both from "Region A" and may be "unlocked". This means, that though they are released for Region A (Korea) and have Region A on the case, they will still play in any Blu-Ray player, regardless of what region you live in.

However, "Unstoppable" was released in Japan (Region A), but may be "locked", which may be the reason why your Region B player said "Wrong Region Code". So the only way to get around that is to have a player that can switch remotes (either with remote code, or a modkit installed).

More info about Blu-Ray regions at blurayregioncodes.com.

help with Amazon.de

Got this "tick the box option' presented, anyone read German know what it means? Google translation was incomprehensible.

If I tick it does my credit card get billed immediately?

Hi QC-The box is asking if you want to choose the credit card and shipment method for all future orders as well. It also states that if the price falls between the time you order, and the time the item is shipped, you'll receive the lowest price.

As folks might know I am woorking on a database of sorts for all Steelbooks. I am looking for scans not digipics of front, back and inside art (without discs).
Very few of mine are open so I am hoping for someone who opens their Steels, Irons or MetalPacks for the inside art, who will be prepared to do some scanning. File size is unimportant but I am looking for consistency to make the end job easier.
Mods: If we are going to tread on anyone's toes please warn me. Don't want to go getting folks into trouble.

Whilst I have got quite a lot, I am missing probably more than I have especially the "exotic" and early ones.

Feel free to PM me for contact details.

orders from Mixup Mexico

I ordered and paid on paypal from MIXUPO in Mexico. Now they wont send till I send them my identity.: >>>> I have no idea what they want :wtf:, can anyone help? My paypal account is verified, that should be sufficient.

Why is it sometimes that amazon will ship some items, when I choose to have them shipped together, but sometimes they don't?

For example, I ordered The Hurt Locker, Apocalypse Now, Gran Torino and Pan's Labrynth from amazon.it. They are all in stock except for Apocalypse Now, which comes out next month. They are preparing Gran Torino for shipping (but not The Hurt Locker, and Pan's), but I chose to have it all shipped together.

I have some of the Universum steelbooks, the Harry Potter steels, and Skyline on order from amazon.de, but they are not shipping Skyline or the Harry Potter steels. This makes me wonder why sometimes they decide to ship some stuff and not the other times, especially when I ask them to ship it all together.

All depends which warehouse it's stored in I guess. Always happens with Amazon doesn't matter which country. With UK if it comes from Jersey (Indigo Starfish) then all discs sent separately; they get tax break of some description. Write to Amazon.de Customer Services and get them to put them together. btw they won't increase your postal fees.

I posted this elsewhere here. Interesting update re Amazon.de, all the four had individual cardboard formers (don't know if that the right word) around them. Only 3 sides mind, and a fifth was "plonked" on top but survived, nonetheless overall a lot more rigid. Maybe they are taking notice of the returns ?

I didn't even think of that. I guess I can't really complain if they ship an item earlier than later. I have overall decent success with amazon.de. I've received some denters, but they have always sent me a replacement and allowed me to keep the damaged item.

That's probably due to them having to pay for your return shipping (European Laws n all that sort of thing). I have to send them back even one that only cost €4.41 the otherday, postage was nearly as much. I will get it refunded mind.

I have had similar response from Amazon.ca and Inet where I could keep the damaged goods. Having said that was locked Region A so made no difference to me !!

Does anybody have experience ordering SteelBooks from either Inetvideo or Grooves-inc? If so, how is their shipping/ packaging?

Nightowl-I ordered from Grooves years ago,and they shipped in a box, but not with tracking. Inet ships in regular envelopes and not in a box, but after ordering for years from them, I can say that their follow up service has always been excellent. If you have an issue you can e-mail them, and I believe they'll resolve the issue for you. Good luck!
