Steelbook & Collecting FAQ's:

Q: Where can I find a list of Steelbooks released?

A: blu-raysteelbooks.com

Q: Can I play movies contained inside Steelbooks on my Blu-Ray Player?

A: It depends-Blu-Rays are coded with Region A, B or C. Most Blu-Rays are "unlocked", regardless of what region they are, but it's always a good idea to check this forum or web resources before buying, as some are "locked".

Q: What are the differences between Steelbooks™, Iron Packs™, Metal Paks™, Viva Metal Boxes, Tins, etc?

A: Check out pics and discussion in our forum here

Q: What does "G1" and "G2" mean when discussing Steelbooks?

A: "G1" (1st Generation) refers to a Blu-Ray in a DVD-sized case. And "G2" (2nd Generation) refers to a Blu-Ray in a Blu-Ray-sized case.

Q: How to fix a loose disc on a steelbook you want to keep factory sealed that came with a floater?

A: Fixing a loose disc

Q: How do I navigate international shopping sites?

A: You can download a free 'add on' for most browsers called 'Google Translate'. Once you have it installed, the pages will translate automatically.

Q: I have many more questions-is there a general list of links to help me learn about Steelbooks, protecting them, etc?

A: Yes, here

DB, thanks for the info. Grooves sounds like a reasonably safe bet. I did order a regular Amaray from inet recently, and it came in an odd paper envelope, almost like packing paper was somehow shrink-wrapped over the blu-ray. I'd be a little nervous if they sent out SteelBooks like that, but its good to know they have good service. :)

Interesting one here; today my son received 3 SB's today from Amazon.de and 2 were dented on right hand side in 2 places. He wrote a very pleasant email to them, "not good enough blah blah blah", and they replied very quickly telling him to keep the 2 denters and they will send out replacements gratis !! Result or what.

Hopefully he will see this and comment soon.

Nightowl-no problem. Yes, I have spoken to Inet regarding their Steelbook packaging, as I am sure others have. Unfortunately there still is a disconnect between the needs of the collector community and the logistics operation at various retailers. They just work with such a mass of products, that they are generally more concerned with getting the product out, and not with handling them like "raw eggs" for our benefit. Good luck with your Grooves order!

Can you use a amazon.co.uk voucher on their de site?

if you mean like a gift card then no, has to be used on the site it was bought from.

oh right, ive never had to send back a steelbook, do you offer to send them back then?

Just what comes up on the screen when I push the buttons (that sounds weird!!). As I said earlier, I'll have to change my approach, they've had enough money out of me this last quarter through their various companies and I've not had much to complain about except a massive ****-up with Prime but then I got the hard drive half price, but that's another story

i've had great customer service from amazon.ca today.my inglourious basterds steel arrived, loads of dents & dings all over the front of it.contacted them & they are sending out a replacement with expedited shipping not standard.and letting me keep the damaged steel.

Apocalypse Now steelbook

Hi has any 1 order this from Spain, Holland or Italy I'm thinking of ordering this, but I've never ordered from a sight other than here and us.

Just wondering if any1 had ordered from one of the links on bluraysteelbook.com and are they reliable.

Thanks Ross

Hi Ross - I've moved your post here as it's more about how about going to order. Feel free to pm me if you'd like some assistance choosing which place is best to order from.

Hope I get the same level of service as you, snow. Mine came today with a dent as I've explained on the thread - not a happy bunny

i ordered a steelbook from hmv, but it was dented. i called customer service and they told me to send it back to them first, but shipping to Guernsey (never heard of this place before) costs 60-100 dollars via ups/fedex. usps is cheaper but no tracking number =[

Reply to them stating that you are more than willing to return the item but only if they refund you shipping costs.

They have a FREEPOST address ask them for the Licence Number. If you in UK it's FREE, but you must push them for it. Don't think it works if not UK based tho.

Guernsey is one of Channel Islands. Has separate tax staus to UK but is part of UK, bit like Hawaii (possibly) to US. It's not mainland Britain and that's the problem (it's actually only few miles from France).

i live in the usa so shipping is gonna cost me an arm unfortunately. i doubt they would reimburse me 60 for shipping for a 30 dollar product, and im too nervous to ship without a tracking number ill have to call them again and ask

You can send in a small flat rate box via usps for $13 or so and the customs number can verify it's been sent. Doesn't matter that the steel barely fits as it's already damaged. PM me if you need more help. ;)
