Steelbook & Collecting FAQ's:

Q: Where can I find a list of Steelbooks released?

A: blu-raysteelbooks.com

Q: Can I play movies contained inside Steelbooks on my Blu-Ray Player?

A: It depends-Blu-Rays are coded with Region A, B or C. Most Blu-Rays are "unlocked", regardless of what region they are, but it's always a good idea to check this forum or web resources before buying, as some are "locked".

Q: What are the differences between Steelbooks™, Iron Packs™, Metal Paks™, Viva Metal Boxes, Tins, etc?

A: Check out pics and discussion in our forum here

Q: What does "G1" and "G2" mean when discussing Steelbooks?

A: "G1" (1st Generation) refers to a Blu-Ray in a DVD-sized case. And "G2" (2nd Generation) refers to a Blu-Ray in a Blu-Ray-sized case.

Q: How to fix a loose disc on a steelbook you want to keep factory sealed that came with a floater?

A: Fixing a loose disc

Q: How do I navigate international shopping sites?

A: You can download a free 'add on' for most browsers called 'Google Translate'. Once you have it installed, the pages will translate automatically.

Q: I have many more questions-is there a general list of links to help me learn about Steelbooks, protecting them, etc?

A: Yes, here

Maybe it's held up at U.S Customs. I know here in Canada every other order from them usualy arrives after the expected delivery date becuase our customs take their sweet a$$ time releasing parcels

I'm hoping so. If it's being held up by US customs, would the tracking show that it arrived in the US or does it not update?

I don't think it gets updated if you live in the U.S or Canada. I can never track any orders from Germany

Really? I'm able to track through amazon's site, and once it arrives in the US, I can track on DHL global mail tracking. I hope you're right Shanester, and that it's being held up in customs. Thanks for your help by the way :)

It shipped DHLGA Dariusz?

I have had same experience as Darczap now. I ordered 2XMonsters and it is supposed to arrive on June 10 as well and so far it still hasn't arrived yet.:ohno: Besides, I already contacted Amazon.de regarding to this unusual delay and they replied me that I may need to wait until June 20 if it still doesn't arrive, they will refund me [ it's too bad that Monsters is currently OOS :( ].Anyway, Darczap, do you already check via this link ?--->http://webtrack.dhlglobalmail.com/ cause normally, sending via DHLGA is able to be tracked via this link but for this time, it shows nothing to me.

Ps, would it happen only for customer who ordered Monsters more than 1 copy ? haha. seems like a curse. :D

My underworld trilogy never showed up, so they shipped out another. So not just Monsters. Tho if someone does get 2 and wants to sell one at cost or decent price. Holla at me.

That's the link I use. Yeah, the link is down currently. Strange. Let's hope our packages come :ohno:

Hey Darczap, seems like the link is live now. My package is in NJ, waiting for USPS to pick it up. Try to check yours. hope it's ok as well. Next thing is hope they didn't send quersteelbook as Sirjump received.:ohno: Am I playing a lotto or something?:D

I posted this in the Tron thread, but I'll repost here too. I've never had success with tracking DHLGA packages, but they have always shown up rather quickly.

Often through amazon.de I'll see the package status show Kentucky, and then maybe NJ before it arrives.

This time, with my Tron Legacy order, they arrived 7 days after their estimated arrival, and the last tracking update was when they left Germany (May 31st with an estimated arrival of June 11th - actual arrival was June 18th).

So my guess is that everyone will get their packages in the next couple days.

Why the tracking didn't update is a good question. According to DHLGA, this type of package is delivery confirmation only, meaning that they commit to scan it when it arrives but nothing more.

Maybe they're just sticking to their policy now? I guess I'll know with my next order if this is standard operating procedure. :wtf:

Looks like mine is in NJ too! Great news for us Sengboy! Crossing my fingers that they arrive in good condition.

Thanks Andy. Looks like you were dealing with an identical issue.

I ordered the Hurt Locker from amazon.it, and it arrived opened

Anyone know if they are good about sending replacements like the other amazons?

Not sure about replacements with them. But I will mention something - I've had open steelbooks be represented as "new" before. This is not uncommon practice with certain retailers in Europe, as far as I'm aware.

That's a shame. I sent them an email, letting them know that it is scratched up a little too. Maybe they'll send a replacement based on that. Seems like I've been having some bad luck with steels lately :(

How can you guys tell when a steelbook has been previously opened? (I'm assuming they re-shrink-wrap it)

They don't reshrink - it's open, that's the problem. :(

Mostly, as a general rule - retailers in Europe will often use the foldover shrink - so if you look at the top edge of the steelbook, you'll see folded edges.

Retailers in North America will often use a thinner plastic wrap that's sealed on the edges - no folding at all.

At least, that's been my experience with buying steelbooks. :movie:

EDIT: That's not to say you won't get some one way or the other - it just depends.

Well, no more Hurt Locker steelbooks at amazon.it. They gave me a refund for it and let me keep the steelbook. Free steelbook? I'll take it!

Sweet! That worked out well. :D

I would offer you mine if you needed one, but if I recall correctly, I might have kept the one that was a bit damaged and sent the mint ones out for my GB that I did long ago - and further to that point a number of the Italian steels were not mint - little defects here or there - even though they were packaged in a bomb proof box from the company.

Thanks for the offer Andy. The copy I received is not dented, just paint rubs on some of the corners. For free, I can live with it. I received Pans with The Hurt Locker, and Pans came pristine.
