Steelbook & Collecting FAQ's:

Q: Where can I find a list of Steelbooks released?

A: blu-raysteelbooks.com

Q: Can I play movies contained inside Steelbooks on my Blu-Ray Player?

A: It depends-Blu-Rays are coded with Region A, B or C. Most Blu-Rays are "unlocked", regardless of what region they are, but it's always a good idea to check this forum or web resources before buying, as some are "locked".

Q: What are the differences between Steelbooks™, Iron Packs™, Metal Paks™, Viva Metal Boxes, Tins, etc?

A: Check out pics and discussion in our forum here

Q: What does "G1" and "G2" mean when discussing Steelbooks?

A: "G1" (1st Generation) refers to a Blu-Ray in a DVD-sized case. And "G2" (2nd Generation) refers to a Blu-Ray in a Blu-Ray-sized case.

Q: How to fix a loose disc on a steelbook you want to keep factory sealed that came with a floater?

A: Fixing a loose disc

Q: How do I navigate international shopping sites?

A: You can download a free 'add on' for most browsers called 'Google Translate'. Once you have it installed, the pages will translate automatically.

Q: I have many more questions-is there a general list of links to help me learn about Steelbooks, protecting them, etc?

A: Yes, here

Chip just to let you know my most recent orders from Amazon.fr and Amazon.de had one damaged steelbook in each order. Both are getting replaced for free and I got to keep the damaged ones. Hopefully you have the same results.

I sure hope so they do something right. Ive given them good business.

Amazon.fr is jerking me around.

They offered a $20 credit for 5 damaged steelbooks or I can ship them back at my cost.

I am pissed.

Tell them how much you have spent with them, they can look it up and that you will go to FNAC instead. Guarantee that you'll get a supervisor to speak to and that they do same as amz.de, also tell them what amz.de are doing for you and how much they value you as a customer.

This is through email. I don't know how to speak french. LOL. Its frustrating when all they have to do is look at my order history. I bet it costs me $50 to ship back the 5 damaged ones with tracking and insurance.

Ok, so now amazon.fr ends up sending out the damaged ones to the wrong friggin address. They send up north to my parents home. What good is that going to do me. I wont even be there for another 6 weeks. They could end up being damaged for all I know. I have to send back the damaged ones too. I was told they would reimburse the shipping cost as well. Thats all I want though is to get what I paid for.

I also have to ship back a few dented Cowboys and Aliens Tins to amazon.de. I got 2 mint ones at least. Not a happy camper at this point. My first order all of them were dented. They told me I would be credited the shipping cost once they arrive back to them. Now I need to figure out the best way to ship so it gets there fast.

Chip, suggest you email Amz.de and get an undertaking from them to reimburse you the exact cost of shipping as these items are heavier than a standard Steelbook and consequently will cost more and due to value considerations will also need to be insured as recommended on their website together with signed for/trackable shipping.

Insofar as Amz.fr is concerned tell them that due to their incompetence, you won't be able to comment on the condition of the replacements and (unless you already have) have no intention of returning the damaged Steels until you have had a chance to inspect them. Naturally you expect some form of financial compensation for the severe inconvenience that you have been caused. Well you can but try. :) Good luck.

I would advise you to ship registered and insured. They will cover all the expenses , you will just have to contact them seperatly about that though and proberbly send them reciept.

Sorry to hear you have had not much luck ...

Take care
John

That's not going to be cheap - especially if those things are bulky - USPS just raised their rates and I saw both express mail and priority mail for larger packages had quite the increase. EEK!

If they were regular steels, I'd say you should throw them in a flat rate envelope and call it good. But that won't work for the C&A editions...

Ok, so amazon.de is giving me a full refund on 1 of the cowboys and aliens tins. I still have 3 that have dents in the side. They said they would re-imburse for the return shipping and items when they get them. I guess I can't complain about that. Amazon.fr however I am awaiting their response. I wont be able to return the damaged items at least until I get back from Alaska after inspecting the ones they sent to the wrong address in Alaska. They did however decide to ship out two new Bourne Trilogy that I received damaged yesterday for free so that is cool.

The new way of them packaging with the space between the cardboard cut right through the plastic wrap and down to the bare metal on the steelbook. That is a bad idea. They need to go back to the bubblewrap and then inside a small box and then in a larger box. They just shove them into the cardboard and it slices the plastic and cuts the steelbook.

The Conan steelbooks were bubble wrapped and then put into a box and they arrived perfectly mint. That goes to show that is the correct way to package. I told them that and they said they would forward it to their dept. I told them steelbooks need to be treated as a collectable item and handeld with care.

I think its the volume that I buy. I figure a certain percentage is going to be damaged. Its not like I make an order for 2-3 steelbooks. :hilarious:

Its all just happening at once. I have never returned an item or asked for a replacement until now.

I'm goin a bit off topic but has anyone ever received a credit for sales tax refund from amazon.de before? Is it a temp transaction? I dunno what to make of it but I'm definitely NOT gonna email them about it :oohyeah:

Poncholo-it could be an instance where you pre-ordered a title and the price dropped right before shipping. Ordinarily you should automatically be charged the lowest price, if it drops before shipping, but due to timing, sometimes a credit seems necessary. I've seen credits like that on my account, and sometimes they will send you an e-mail that lets you know they've issued it. Welcome to the site!

Thanks DB, I've ordered so far in total 11 steels from there and i got $62 back last night :oohyeah: hmmm time for shopping lol :D

+1

Good points, and I think it's important to keep on reporting these things and providing customer feedback so that the companies at least have some information to review and act upon. If things aren't being done right we have to let them know.

VRob-absolutely-most if not all of the Amazon sites encourage packaging feedback. Definitely keep sending your comments if you receive poorly packaged goods-this way your complaints continue to be registered with the company itself.

Has anyone had any dealing with www.movies-blu-ray.nl??

I ordered 6 Metal Paks from them over a week ago and I have heard nothing from them!! I live in the UK so I am unsure of there shipping times.

I paid via Paypal so they have got my money. I tried to e-mail for an Order update but I have not heard back from them.

Cheers

Bert can let the orders slip occasionally, however I have a Group Buy with him at the moment for over 30 Steelbooks, and have full confidence in him as have the vast majority of the members here.

The easiest answer is to send him off an email. Takes a couple of days but you will get a reply.

I am with surfury. I order from them and have always had the best OCD packaging. They package very well and are a very good company. :scat:
