Steelbook & Collecting FAQ's:

Q: Where can I find a list of Steelbooks released?

A: blu-raysteelbooks.com

Q: Can I play movies contained inside Steelbooks on my Blu-Ray Player?

A: It depends-Blu-Rays are coded with Region A, B or C. Most Blu-Rays are "unlocked", regardless of what region they are, but it's always a good idea to check this forum or web resources before buying, as some are "locked".

Q: What are the differences between Steelbooks™, Iron Packs™, Metal Paks™, Viva Metal Boxes, Tins, etc?

A: Check out pics and discussion in our forum here

Q: What does "G1" and "G2" mean when discussing Steelbooks?

A: "G1" (1st Generation) refers to a Blu-Ray in a DVD-sized case. And "G2" (2nd Generation) refers to a Blu-Ray in a Blu-Ray-sized case.

Q: How to fix a loose disc on a steelbook you want to keep factory sealed that came with a floater?

A: Fixing a loose disc

Q: How do I navigate international shopping sites?

A: You can download a free 'add on' for most browsers called 'Google Translate'. Once you have it installed, the pages will translate automatically.

Q: I have many more questions-is there a general list of links to help me learn about Steelbooks, protecting them, etc?

A: Yes, here

Yesterday i received the fourth damaged SB from ama.ca (out of 10-12 ordered)!
The 3 times before they just send a replacement and told me to keep the damaged ones and the replacements arrived damage free on all 3 occasions (even with their poor packaging in that padded envelopes!)...
Let's see what they do now!

Maybe they offer a discount when the replacement again arrives damaged???

I'm glad your replacements came damage free. I guess it's just plain luck when it comes down to it.
If your replacement does come damaged they will give you a 20% discount offer if you want to keep it. I didn't like that option so I opted for the full refund but complained about their shipping practices. They told me to just keep the steelbook and refunded me my money. So I got two damaged steelbooks for free. Don't know if I should consider this as a consolation prize for what I had to go through but I hope they change their ways soon.

I also think it is just luck to receive a single SB from them undamaged!!!
Ok, did they tell you what to do with two damaged SBs?
They still think we are buying these only for the movies inside, otherwise thay can't be that stupid... normally!
Let's see what they will do now with the latest damaged i have received!

But really they should have learned to pack Steelbooks by now!!!

They just told me to keep the steelbooks. So basically I have two damaged steelbooks for free as they refunded my money.

I agree with you they should know by now that their packaging practices are horrible but I guess they like giving away free stuff. :D

I would say this is great to keep customers, giv them free stuff!
But you are not a customer when you get your money back all the time :)

I really wonder how a manager from them cannot see that they refund/replace on hundreds or thousands of Steelbooks due to the poor packaging... without chenging the way they ship!!! So someone should tell them: BUBBLE WRAP REALLY EXISTS

Has anyone ever had to deal with amazon.de about damaged steels?

I have recieved a damaged Spiderman 3 steelbook today, had a loose disc inside and a small scratch on the back, then when I opened it one of the clips inside was broken off.

I would like a replacement but I don't really want to go through the hassle of sending it all the way back to Germany (plus a return shipping fee). And its hard to navigate through amazon.de even with google translate helping me. lol.

So, just wondering what other people have done in this situation. I wish all amazon sites were like the canadian one and just send you out a replacement no questions asked.

OK, I sent them an e-mail, will see what happens from there. Thanks chip!

I recently ordered a Steelbook from them and I got some random amaray. Has this every happened to you or anyone else on here. How good are they at refunding you for this, and what's their policy on this? Do you normally have to return the incorrect item? First time anything like this has ever happened.

That has not happened to me ... yet.. :ohno:..... but from what I can tell, you have to return the item within 30 days. However I have just emailed their CS through chips link above to ask directly for a replacement, and I will see what they say.

Ugh! I guess I will have to e-mail them and see what they say

I received Equilibrium, Shaun of the Dead and American History X from Amazon.ca yesterday. All 3 were dented to various degrees. They emailed me to say I could keep them, they are refunding my order and they are going to send replacements at no cost to me.
:oohyeah:

Refunding AND free replacements???
I just know of free replacements...but never this (money back and free replacements)!

Dano - perhaps re-read the email. I think what you will find they do is charge your credit card for the replacement + express shipping, then generate a refund for the same amount immediately. That is what they did for me when I asked for a replacement Pan's Labyrinth.

... then they sent me a replacement in worse condition that the first which I have had to send back and ask for a refund. grr.

Well, I got a response pretty quickly, they are sending a replacement out asap but I still have to return the damaged one within 30days, otherwise they will charge my CC for the replacement.

Instead of sending an e-mail last night, I just contacted them via the chat option. He said he would refund me right away, and I could keep the wrong item because it would cost too much to have me ship back the wrong item. Very nice of them to do that. I'm happy with how they resolved this.

You are right. I double checked and they did charge for the replacements. t does look like I did come out ahead by about 15 bucks due to something they call good will credit. Thanks for the clarification.
