Steelbook & Collecting FAQ's:

Q: Where can I find a list of Steelbooks released?

A: blu-raysteelbooks.com

Q: Can I play movies contained inside Steelbooks on my Blu-Ray Player?

A: It depends-Blu-Rays are coded with Region A, B or C. Most Blu-Rays are "unlocked", regardless of what region they are, but it's always a good idea to check this forum or web resources before buying, as some are "locked".

Q: What are the differences between Steelbooks™, Iron Packs™, Metal Paks™, Viva Metal Boxes, Tins, etc?

A: Check out pics and discussion in our forum here

Q: What does "G1" and "G2" mean when discussing Steelbooks?

A: "G1" (1st Generation) refers to a Blu-Ray in a DVD-sized case. And "G2" (2nd Generation) refers to a Blu-Ray in a Blu-Ray-sized case.

Q: How to fix a loose disc on a steelbook you want to keep factory sealed that came with a floater?

A: Fixing a loose disc

Q: How do I navigate international shopping sites?

A: You can download a free 'add on' for most browsers called 'Google Translate'. Once you have it installed, the pages will translate automatically.

Q: I have many more questions-is there a general list of links to help me learn about Steelbooks, protecting them, etc?

A: Yes, here

They will come in a box but normally a box that is too big for them with nothing to hold them in place, meaning the steels are basically lobbed in and allowed to move around freely crashing into each other through the various stages of transit. Expect to get between 30-50% of them damaged.

I'll leave it then I think. Why is it taking so long for them to sort out their packaging? I ordered A History of Violence a few days ago and of course it came damaged. I've fired off an email about their packaging hopefully with enough pestering, they'll do something about it.

Considering reports of hmv shipping in jiffy bags I think I am gonna boycott hmv from now on. It isn't worth the risk IMO anymore.

It's a temporary measure whilst they are moving warehouses from the Channel Islands to the UK. Hopefully packaging and delivery times will be back to normal in a couple of weeks. I'm sure you don't really mean what you say. An exclusive release of a certain bat related film would change you're mind I'd bet ;)

Did anybody else that was on Surfury's recent waves group buys that lives in the US get hit with a UPS customs charges bill? I thought that the US folks didn't usually get hit with these but I was wrong. Maybe because it was UPS and not the regular courier mail or something. Freakin' $12. Sux, but oh well, guess I have to pay it otherwise I won't get anymore packages through them. :( That's the last time I ask for UPS shipped over seas. EEK! Nothing against Dave, it's UPS that made me upset. Just wanted to clarify that.

Value of steelbooks...

Paranormal Activity 2 goes for about 30 euros on ebay.de. The same steelbook went for just under $60 on ebay.com recently. Is it worth $60 or 30 euros? The answer is obvious to me, but I just wanted some other opinions.

Greeting folks, got a quick question I was hoping somebody might be able to help me with. Anyone know if/how I can get German steel's shipped to the UK? Im after Chinatown and a possibly a couple of others but cant seem to find a site anywhere selling them (I have a feeling I am being VERY thick here).

Many thanks.

With Thor hitting £70+, does anybody else think Play's Iron Man is still low in price when it now regularly sells for £40? In my mind, it's a cast iron (no pun intended) £100 certainty by Christmas. £40 looks dirt cheap to me.

Chinatown was a Media Markt exclusive and they don't ship outside of Germany, John's (Masterblaster) GB will be closed now but might be worth asking whether he was any spares left over. ;)

Buying steelbooks instore abroad

Hey guys, sorry if this question is in the wrong place but I was just hoping someone could provide some info for me. :D

Bascially I am going to France and Belgium for a few days shortly and wondered whilst I was there if there were any stores I could visit that might sell steelbooks?

It might be a stupid question :emb: and ideally I'd be off to the US or Canada to stock up but as I am going to another country I thought I might as well ask as P&P for most online retailers cripple me on the prices.

Anyhoo any info would be gratefully accepted. :)

Mikey

In France :
Multimedia Stores like FNAC, VIRGIN, BOULANGER
Supermarket Stores like AUCHAN, CARREFOUR, LECLERC

AWESOME! :oohyeah:

Thanks for the info. So these are walk in stores I could check out? :)
