Steelbook & Collecting FAQ's:

Q: Where can I find a list of Steelbooks released?

A: blu-raysteelbooks.com

Q: Can I play movies contained inside Steelbooks on my Blu-Ray Player?

A: It depends-Blu-Rays are coded with Region A, B or C. Most Blu-Rays are "unlocked", regardless of what region they are, but it's always a good idea to check this forum or web resources before buying, as some are "locked".

Q: What are the differences between Steelbooks™, Iron Packs™, Metal Paks™, Viva Metal Boxes, Tins, etc?

A: Check out pics and discussion in our forum here

Q: What does "G1" and "G2" mean when discussing Steelbooks?

A: "G1" (1st Generation) refers to a Blu-Ray in a DVD-sized case. And "G2" (2nd Generation) refers to a Blu-Ray in a Blu-Ray-sized case.

Q: How to fix a loose disc on a steelbook you want to keep factory sealed that came with a floater?

A: Fixing a loose disc

Q: How do I navigate international shopping sites?

A: You can download a free 'add on' for most browsers called 'Google Translate'. Once you have it installed, the pages will translate automatically.

Q: I have many more questions-is there a general list of links to help me learn about Steelbooks, protecting them, etc?

A: Yes, here

I don't think he's showing disrespect, or not intending to anyway. If a mod removes your thread/post they will not tell you why unless you message them. No-one will tell you the rules it's just up to a mod what they decide, or it will tell you at the start of a thread if there are any rules (e.g. Ironman). I think a whole thread to discuss your problem is a bit much, there are threads for defective packaging and the like already, you can post and discuss there. Ask a mod and they should tell you something similar.

...now i know why i couldn't find that other thread :ugh:

So, is it against the rules to make threads about returning Steelbooks back to retailers or something? :ugh:

Please can the mod that killed my thread at least have some courtesy to say why? Thanks.
For people to contact go here.

Agree entirely with a couple of caveats.
Mods remove threads for good reasons, they don't make up the rules as they go along you sign up to them when you join the forum, you can always try a search for a word or term and narrow it down from there. It may have been merged or moved.
Yes PM'ing a Mod will usually get the answer but don't expect an immediate reply. Give it 48 hours then try again. You can always use the "Report Post" icon in the post bit to left hand side of screen.

This is the first steelbook I have ordered from hmv. Are they quite bad for packaging? Play are first class at there packaging just now, knowing it will arrive with no dents or scratches makes it so much easier when ordering

At the moment there shifting the shipping warehouse , everything is sent out in a jiffy bag if they run out then its just shipped in a grey plastic bag , look at the damaged thread or the hmv total recall thread then your get an idea , but normally they ship in a little sturdy box not the best but will normally be enough for uk postage , .. good luck

Cheers mate, I have also pre ordered the hunger games and the avengers from hmv so hopefully by the time there released they have sorted there packaging. Hope it's not dented since I'm in the uk and it won't take long to arrive

I've just contacted Amazon.ca about my damaged copy of Limitless. It took them about fifteen minutes to reply and they've created a new order. I cannot fault their customer service. It is by far the best of any online site. Why can't they just sort out their packaging like other Amazon sites have? Sure it's not perfect, but it's a damn sight better than a jiffy bag. I'm fed up of receiving damaged items and having to ask for replacements. I'd rather just get what I ordered in perfect condition and be happy, than be constantly disappointed with receiving damaged items.

another odd thing about amz.ca. I was just making a purchase when I found out Amazon fulfilled international shipping costs more than 3rd party international shipping; $7.49 compared to $9.98 by Amazon. Bought the item from a vendor instead.

but I guess it's all good in Amazon's eyes. They get their 20% and don't even have to do anything.

I don't know if this is the right place to put this but it looks like Play have set up a reward scheme called 'Superpoints'

£1 spent = 1 superpoint = 1p

Superpoints can be used to buy or part buy products on Play.
