Steelbook & Collecting FAQ's:

Q: Where can I find a list of Steelbooks released?

A: blu-raysteelbooks.com

Q: Can I play movies contained inside Steelbooks on my Blu-Ray Player?

A: It depends-Blu-Rays are coded with Region A, B or C. Most Blu-Rays are "unlocked", regardless of what region they are, but it's always a good idea to check this forum or web resources before buying, as some are "locked".

Q: What are the differences between Steelbooks™, Iron Packs™, Metal Paks™, Viva Metal Boxes, Tins, etc?

A: Check out pics and discussion in our forum here

Q: What does "G1" and "G2" mean when discussing Steelbooks?

A: "G1" (1st Generation) refers to a Blu-Ray in a DVD-sized case. And "G2" (2nd Generation) refers to a Blu-Ray in a Blu-Ray-sized case.

Q: How to fix a loose disc on a steelbook you want to keep factory sealed that came with a floater?

A: Fixing a loose disc

Q: How do I navigate international shopping sites?

A: You can download a free 'add on' for most browsers called 'Google Translate'. Once you have it installed, the pages will translate automatically.

Q: I have many more questions-is there a general list of links to help me learn about Steelbooks, protecting them, etc?

A: Yes, here

 So, to save enough points to get "Prometheus 3D Steelbook", i will have to spend £2400.00
I really hate these reward schemes. You get nothing back. I would rather just buy the steel from a collector for £100, and save myself £2300.00. :BS:

i can't believe people buy in to these reward schemes...its hardly a reward is it.

it doesn't pay to be loyal thats for sure

except to my fellow ninjas of course ;)

Yeah it seems I didn't really calculate the maths on this one, that really is a terrible 'rewards' scheme. I won't be rushing to redo my pre-orders.

I agree it's not worth much - it's not like a cashback site where you can get it where you get it off multiple retailers and it can add up, BTW Zavvi also have a similar system with their Rewardz scheme.

I did wonder if it would help the big group buy people here in the long run though.

I like the reward points. If you are buying the Steelbooks anyways, you might as well get the points too. I certainly wouldn't buy anything just to get points though... What can I say, Im an Air Miles junkie :)

My make on this is that if you are going to buy from Play anyway it's just a bit extra.

I would rather buy SBs from them because their packaging is superb, if occasionally I can save a bit ordering from Play I will.

It doesn't mean if I can find a much better deal I won't use it but since Play introduced the new packaging then IMHO they are the go to people for SBs beating even Amazon's superb customer service.

hmv have a much better reward scheme...where you can get exclusive items but play.com have the packaging so they still win

Amazon EU was UK owned but is now in LUX due to tax reasons.
Play.com is a UK company.

Amazon is first and foremost an American company. It's listed and traded in America. All the others (UK, Germany, Italy etc) are off shoots of this.

And as I said about Play.com they are owned by a bigger company. So although Play.com is UK its owners are not :)

Terminator Play.com steelbook

they should really put a stop to bulk orders on these titles, luckily my copy is secure but why should fellow collectors have to pay stupid money for a title when certain e-bay sellers just buy bulk to make a quick profit!!??, luckily we do have fellow members on here that sell at cost !!! which is a blessing!!! hoping that the new transfer is at the standard of aliens but to be fair it can,t look any worse than the original release lol.

to be honest, i think ebay have a big part to play in that as well. they shoudln't allow pre-orders of a store exclusive to be listed

I agree, but I honestly can't see evilbay giving two ***** as long as they're making money from it. :(

I agree, but how would a group buy be possible if they limited the amount we could buy?

Play.com would be able to determine group buy hosts. For example the same two guy always do the group buys on here for Play.com exclusives, so special arrangements could be made to secure them more copies. I think if they limited each household to five copies, it would cut down on the eBay resellers, without really impacting anyone else.

whilst i agree with limiting the numbers one individual can buy, we all have to remember that play.com are a business. sales at the end of the day are what counts. so limiting the amount someone can purchase will only affect their sales adversely. no business would willingly do that.

That's not true, lots of businesses limit certain items in high demand. They know they can sell out the stock, so why not sell it to more customers rather than a handful of bulk buyers? It would certainly help future business.

i'm just saying in this current climate everyone is doing what they can to increase productivity. limiting sales or flow of sales isn't the optimum way of doing business.
granted, some limited edition stuff that will defo sell out could/should be limited but you can hardly blame a company for not putting this is place.

not having a go at anyone just from a business point of view it makes sense to me.
sell as fast as you can, make profit and have room for new stock.

I know Futureshop is now limiting their pre-orders and online older titles. (New) Hunger games and The Lorax are 3 per household and (old) Harry Potter and the deathly hallows is 1 per household. Looks like the eBayers doing bulk orders may become a thing of the past!
