Everything Blu Facebook

Release Schedule (SUBJECT TO APPROVALS!) - We would like to let you know our direction over the next few releases and as stated above, these are subject to approvals. We are taking on board suggestions of movies without steelbook releases but we need some sort of foot in the market before doing so. However, some of those titles have already been brought up in a meeting today, so hopefully we can progress further with those soon.

This schedule is planned to have full Exclusive SteelBook designs (Not just flipped artwork exclusivity). All would feature the same setup as Shaun of the Dead; Full Slip, Lenticular & Blu Box.

Casino EE 002
Hot Fuzz EE 003
Oblivion EE 004
The Worlds End 005

Thank you to everyone supporting us, please let us know you thoughts on the titles above!!

Hello,

Some great feedback from the new design.

In general, how do people feel about the borders that come with embossing? So some people here have said about the badge at the back possibly being embossed, if we still went with debossing on the front, there would be a borderless front with a bordered back.

What's peoples thoughts on that? If the back has a border, the front must match (embossed front too) or the two can be different?

Thanks
EverythingBlu

Personally, I think the steelbook needs to match the Sean of the Dead in every way possible (and then the same again for World's End). So if there is no debossing or embossing on the back of Sean of the Dead then there SHOULDN'T be on this.

THE CORNETTO TRILOGY STEELBOOKS NEED TO LOOK LIKE A SET** AND THIS WON'T BE THE CASE IF THEY'RE TREATED DIFFERENTLY

Bordering on the back would ruin it. i have over 200 steelbooks and none of them have a border on the back.

**
Like Star Wars or India Jones the Harry Potter Steekbooks or even like the Mummy Steelbooks you are releasing

Edit: Yep, the image above proves back borders are tacky. Keep the cornetto trilogy back border free

FAC's Dredd steel has exactly the same layout as you described, and I don't remember anyone complaining about the incongruity between the two covers with that release. Personally, I'm game for any combination of 'bossing as long as it suits the artwork.

Edit: My comment on the Dredd steel has been proven wrong before I even submitted my post.

Deboss title and badge

Make the cornetto trilogy match in terms of either embossing or debossing and I believe Shaun is debossed on the title. (I think)

Or as mickle says that works too

I think you should deboss the black area around the HF on the back, leaving the HF to stand out but leaving the whole steelbook borderless

This would probably be the simplest solution. You could get a pretty solid embossed effect by debossing the "hollow" spaces within the badge. And there'd be no worry about the border compromising the artwork.

Hello,

We believe what you have described is actually embossing. No image ever extends passed the width of the steelbook. Areas a pressed down so you achieve a "raised" area on those that haven't been pressed. This is the technique used by Scanavo.

We may be wrong. Is there a embossed steelbook WITHOUT border?

Thanks

It wouldn't bother me to have debossed front without a border and an embossed back with a border.

I know you're trying really hard to give people what they want art wise and it's massively appreciated. I'm sure it will make no difference but I just wanted to give my feedback on the new art.
It bugs me that Simon and nicks characters are side by side but from opposite ends of the film.. I know this art has been done previously so it's not a reflection of your choice, I would just prefer the two characters to match from the same part of the film.

I prefer this image of nick with Simon, they match

One last thing, I would have preferred the artwork from the top picture, its more zoomed out and has a nice background, it looks much better to me than the cut and paste look. It's just how I feel about the new art, but again we all appreciate your efforts in giving us what we want and for submitting a new art to be approved:thumbs:

I don't mind having the front and back different. The U.K. release of Filth had embossing (with border) on both sides, the U.K. release of Ender's Game was flat on the front and debossed on the back.

I would love to see the badge embossed (maybe even with debossing in the embossing). Please look at pictures of The Green Hornet front to get an idea what is possible.

Like @Mickle_89 said, if you go that route you may need to rework the artwork on the back with borders in mind, not only repositioning the badge but maybe raising the town skyline to sit inside the border? That last part is nit picky, but just a suggestion. ignore that, skyline would be fine.

That is correct but because you don't have a standard border going round the edge it looks like debossing and more classier

Only a few steels have used this method too
A bit like the back of Roger rabbit etc
(Roger actually acts as the border and only his 3 laughter tears are embossed)

So @matthewtheunicorn suggestion would look cool

we can't say the Sh*t word but this is OK?

Technically you can say what you want in regards to what words ... if we wanted the word to be censored it will do so automatically in the forum tech in which we can add words to auto filter. The main reason we censored some words was more so because of Google.

"Curse words will not affect your ranking, however Google may indeed filter you with their "safe search" filter if you use too many words that they do not consider family friendly. As to what these words are I cannot tell you however I think we all have an idea of what is considered family friendly."

So yeah since we can barely control your uncontrollable lot we just filter some things instead. :p

I don't think it matters if it's different. FAC's DREDD for example had a debossed title (front) and embossed badge on the rear with border. Looks great IMO as could this ;)

If you were to do that however, I think the badge is placed too high. Would need to be more centred (or downsized). The art change is heaps better though, kudos for that

This. If there's a border (which there will be if you use true embossing on the badge), you'll definitely need to "zoom out" the image on the back (or just shrink the badge) so that the entire badge is clear of the border.

The embossed Dredd badge is severely cool. I think this would look great with real embossing--much better than debossing internal elements of the badge like some people are suggesting. I'd rather it just be flat if it's not truly embossed.

Absolutely . . . steelbooks without borders with twinbossing exist such as LAST ACTION HERO and a few more recent from 101 Films (THREE AMIGO, GHOULIES and GANG RELATED).
Steelbooks without borders feel less quality and are less rigid / solid but can look great.

Example of twinbossing (raised and recessed artwork) on borderless steelbooks (U.K.):-

The image you depicted is strategic debossing like I mentioned above. The text isn't embossed, it's surroundings are debossed hence the lack of border. I definitely think that's the way to go with this release. Deboss the black circle but leave the letters as they stand

Hello,

Yes, so last action hero does have a border but only around the word Hero (Sorry if border came across as just typically around the outer edge). As for Gang Related, this certainly looks like what we are talking about, seems to be true embossing with no border anywhere, Very Interesting.

Thanks
