I like to post comparisons...
Before being active on HDN, I had amassed a collection of 55 steelbooks over a period of 2 years.
100_3681-1000_zps9e0d0ce9.jpg

Not too bad I think and of course, buying at a rate my wallet would allow.

Now, only 11 months since that point...

My collection has grown almost 6x in about half the time period.
It's not as easy on the wallet!

I just decided to take an overall pic as I don't have a ton of free time at the moment, but have drawn a box around the actual steelbooks for you.

I collection has around 150 Steelbooks....

•I have around 150 Steelbooks in my Collection. All are opened, mostly mint. I Do Not collect Damaged Steelbooks. If it is advertised as 'Collectable' Packaging, I expect a mint copy.:thumbs::thumbs:

•The only way to really determine if a Steelbook is Truly Mint is to Open It and find out, Unless you posses "X-Ray Vision", or a pair of The Old "See-Through Glasses". :hilarious::hilarious::hilarious:

•I especially perfer in-store pick ups and I always open my steelbook purchases in-store to ensure I end up with a nice copy. I do an easy exchange any time I find there's a slash, ding, or scratch Which Is more often than not, Im sad to say to all the "Sealed Collectors".:drool::drool:

Anyway...I am really OCD about my marvel collection and any expensive steelbook I buy. Here's a picture of The 30 Top Steelbooks in My Collection....

I know many people do not like Steelbook, but I bought it because the film is amazing.
I dont buy Steels because they look good, i buy because i like the movie!!

Amen, brotha!

I will never buy a film I didn't like just because of a cool steelbook, and sometimes it's disheartening to see that awful films get plenty of amazing steelbooks, like Orphan Killer or GI Joe 2, while great films are not deemed steelbook-worthy or get one lame edition.

Being on my shelves in a privilege, not a right, so no matter how beautiful the steelbooks are, it's what's in the inside that matters :) (and that's why I spent Valentine's Day alone with my steelbooks :().

However sometimes I do blind buys (whoops, I had written "I do blind guys" :hilarious:), I buy a great-looking steelbook and the film doesn't quite live to my expectations. Case and point : The Expendables 2 - the French steelbook looks really good but the film's locations looked very cheap, it was badly paced and overall a letdown from the fun first film, but I had to own it because I had the steelbook of the first one, and they complement each other well (also, it was €14.99).

Captain Phillips, as a matter of fact, will be a blind buy, and I'm very confident about it, I knew that there'd be a steelbook so I didn't go and see it in theaters knowing I'd undoubtedly own it on Blu-ray anyway, saved a few bucks. I'm waiting on the FNAC edition though :) (March 20).
