Well the answer to that is .... lots.

As some of you might know, I had spinal fusion surgery in July last year. Unfortunately the aftermath included a fair few side effects, huge amounts of pain, severe lack of sleep and having to learn to walk again. Chuck in a hefty bout of depression and I wasn't having a fun time.

Fast forward, and I have the joy of coming off my medication - cue withdrawal symptoms. Body wracked with pain, and other unpleasant things I won't mention here.

Before the operation I noticed pains in my face and chin. When the op happened and I was on painkillers, I forgot about it as it kind of faded into the background - still there but I was concentrating on other things.

Now coming off my medication, the pain has increased, and increased and continued increasing.

I've now been diagnosed with Trigeminal neuralgia - and no, it's not as fun as it sounds. Massive shocks of pain continuously through-out the day. Some lasting a few seconds, some a lot longer.

I'm really just wondering how much more I can take. I can't sleep - I've lost 2 stone in weight since late last year - I'm kind of a mess.

I've no idea where this post is going really. I guess it's just an outlet to rant/air my woes.

Not looking for sympathy posts, but just for people to understand if I get a little bit ratty in a post, I might not be feeling my best.

At least I can walk again now :)

Damn. That a lot man, sounds like everything but a fun time. I hope us ninjas can make your life just a tiny bit better... At least we'll try. ;)

Be strong and focus on the positive bro!

Rob, I have only just seen this post and wish you all the best with your recovery. I hope that the Machete boxset makes you feel a tiny bit better even if it cannot actually help you. Sometimes it's just good to get things out of your system.

I've been kind of quiet on the site recently as having a bad time with my depression. Hard to explain what I'm going through but it's really not fun. This site has been an escape for me from 'real life' and 99.95% of it members are brilliant or better. Some members have been fantastic in helping me out. They may not realise they're doing it but they are.

And to the 1 member who has been stalking my threads and trolling - f**k off

So sorry to hear of your fusion issues. Have your symtoms decreased at all and does your surgeon consider your surgery successful? I had a spinal fusion of the lower back a number of years ago. Luckily I woke up with no pain. IMO no one knows the pain you go through without having had it themselves. I wish you the very best!

Where am I at the moment ?

Well, current;y I'm on new medication for the Trigeminal Neuralgia - trouble is it's bought extreme fatigue and has bought my depression back.

This is actually a step up from the previous medication I was on, which gave the above plus the joys of nausea and vomitting, as well as severe stomach pains.

Happy happy joy joy

So personally not in a happy place at the moment, but at least I'm in work and have a wonderful family, so not all bad !!

I hope the side effects settle down soon  .

At least being at work then an AMAZING family to come back to . The nights are getting lighter so more time where you can see them :oohyeah: without needing a 40 LED bulbed head torch :p.

I have found lately that I am getting a hell of a lot more sence from the Pharmacist I use than the Quacks :giggle: . Could a pharmacist come up with a tweak with your meds to help you mnementh ? :ohno:.

Thinking of you ALL  . LOADS OF LOVE Ann :) .

I'm due to go back to the consultant on the 30th - really not happy with him, so will see what happens this time as to what I do.

I was meant to get the current tablets on the 9th Jan - I got them last week :(

Omg bud I didn't know your situation, I really hope things get better for you. Stay strong!
