In conjunction with Worldwide Packaging supplier List thread

A lot of folks are fully aware of how to pack a Steelbook to avoid dents and damage. However, this is still a good thread for new collectors to look over so that they know how to avoid such damage.

1) Use a box
2) Use plenty of bubble wrap.

Some people have been able to get away with using bubble mailers and plenty of packing, but its still nothing something I would personally recommend.

This is actually a package I got from our forum member "BlurayJunkie"

Even when shipping internationally he was able to use a United States Priority Mail box by wrapping it first in paper. Good idea, as you can get those boxes for free. (if you live in the US)

Yeah, I have a few different sizes from Uline. The only problem being that Canada Post does alot by weight and the white corrugated ones weigh a bit more than the brown color boxes. It does make a difference when shipping two steelbooks to my UK and France buddies, price difference of $17.00.

I just wish I had seen this thread earlier I would have wrapped the movies in another level of bubble wrap (heck I bought an entire roll of it). But I wanted to make sure I had padding on all sides so the movie didn't slide around then I wrapped the whole thing in tape thinking they gotta puncture the tape first to get through the box.

My first trade here and my first time shipping something international I am going to be worried sick the entire time tell it gets there.

well just jump into the tardis and go back a week

good point, definitely something to think about

No need to go that far back I shipped it like 5 hours ago.

i'd suggest everytime you go to the store pick out something that'll be good for shipping... i usually go in and buy another roll of bubble wrap or a few more boxes or even some more tape... last time i went to office depot i bought this huge bag of those packing peanuts to help me fill the extra space in boxes... it's not really necessary, as i could shread paper and fill the boxes with that (which is what i was doing up until my last package sent out), but the finished product looks that much more professional... and i continue to pack things better and better... just takes time and practice

it can start to get kind of expensive but you learn where you get the best deals... i got the same size boxes from target and wal mart, and the same box was $2.50 at target when it was $.25 at wal mart

this is what i have right now

you should pack it like how you want to receive it.

personally, I think it can be better. If I can see the title with the bubble wrap, then you should add more wrap around it. Also, after bubble wrapping the steelbook, cut up two cardboard piece for the front and back for extra protection covering the bubble wrap. Just in case the main box gets puncture by a sharp object...and extra layer "helps".

Does this look like a good shipping job, I have been worried sick on this arriving in perfect condition as it took me 5 stores to even find these in perfect condition.

I also wrapped the whole box in tape, its going to the UK

Nice.

Where do you get the boxes from, bud? Obviously the HMV box came from HMV, but what about the other boxes?

Man that's some pretty cool packing. How many layers of bubble wrap is that?

These are the ones I use http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/40-Video-Mailers-Packaging-Cardboard-Boxes-FREEP-P-/230584269729?pt=UK_Packaging_Materials&hash=item35afe4bba1

I wrap the SB with 5 turns. Fold one end down and the other up and close the box. NO tape :scat:

Since play has the play packaging boxes, what are peoples opinions of using them to ship steelbooks either domestically or internationally.

I use them for both (international & Domestic) and have had no issues although I always reinforce it with extra padding.

I have used the play boxes on several occasions in the u.k . don't think i could trust the box on international destinations , always best to use plenty of bubble wrap in a bigger box then add more foam :)

I've used Play boxes for International...never had an issue with them.

I can't stand it when people use tape - I don't see the point in it if you've used enough bubblewrap.(plus the steel won't moved because of this) I never use tape, ever.
