I'm mentally prepared for the bloodbath that is going to ensue when pre orders go live. I do not Mind at all. It's the Name of the Game with Kimchizzle. Some fellas get lucky, some don't. Some get lucky every time. Some make their own luck and pay big BUCK. I'm going for 2 lenti's and a full slip. Wish me luck.

If they Put an order limit on it, thats double the shipping for US. But, I respect that. Its totally cool. All good. All gucci baby. I will wake my girlfriend up at 3:30 am and get her into gear. My girlfriend is a skilled Kimchi Pre Order Warrior princess. She closed on Snowpiercer before I could! Crazy, I know. Ive created a monster.

We are a TEAM. We watch all our movies together. WE go steelbook hunting together. We hit store after store after store (BB, Target, Walmart, Barnes & Noble). My status as a collector is: Hardcore. She still Soft-Core :naughty:

I'm lucky, wat can I say?

Anyway, good luck to all!

Marry her!!! :scat:

My wife is steelbook hunting as I type this. :D

I said the same thing, and had my post deleted... Mods, seriously, let the conversation flow, it's a forum, let people exchange ideas...
Just watch any of Park Chan Wook's movies to show how good Asian Cinema is & indeed world cinema in general.
The original infernal affairs is far superior to the departed also Park Chan Wook's "Stoker" with Nicole Kidman is brilliant.
Before I collected steelbooks all I watched was world cinema.

I haven't seen Stoker, but I will now. Thanks for the recommendation.

I hate the "Hollywood is best because it makes the most money" mentality.

More money does not equal better film.

Edit: I've just ordered Stoker

Oldboy should never have been remade. Watched the remake recently and would give it 2 out 5 at best and that's being kind.

The Infernal Affairs Trilogy is far superior to The Departed.

As much as I adore many of this films, Hollywood's Golden Son Tarantino wouldn't exist without Asian cinema. Dogs is a complete copy of City On Fire, and virtually every action scene he shoots is stolen directly from Woo's older films.

Of all the up & coming Kimchi Exclusives Infernal Affairs is the one I've been looking forward to the most I just hope I'm able to get my order in. Will be gutted if I miss out think I'm going to go for full slip but it may come down to whichever one I can get into the shopping cart.

Does anyone in this thread realize just how awful the acting was in these movies? I understand it's difficult to evaluate acting when you don't understand the language, but Asian cinema is still decades behind Hollywood.

Cinema and drama, acting and storytelling, and what audiences are accustomed to are different all across the globe. It's unfair to say Asian cinema is behind Hollywood just because it's impenetrable for you on a cultural level.

The problem, especially with Chinese cinema, is the talent farm system is still entrenched as a favors-based system, i.e. the casting couch for women and connections for men.

I also do think tons of the aforementioned Japanese-direction stuff is highly overrated without Japanophile-tinged glasses.

That's pretty much how it is EVERYWHERE. And in every industry, not just entertainment.

Also, saying guys like Mizoguchi and Ozu are overrated in regards to film, is like saying Jesus is overrated in regards to Christianity.

Now, about this totally sweet looking set. I will totally break down and cry if I don't get an order in for the fullslip. Please give more love to Hong Kong cinema, Kimchi. I will give you so much money.

I personally love world cinema and everything that is different, especially not having to see the same actors all the time in Hollywood movies, is the change I enjoy the most.

Considering The Departed is one of my favourite movies, I can't wait to check this trilogy out and it's full slip all the way!!

It's so weird you'd say that when a professional film critic said this about Oldboy:

The Village Voice said:
Choi's wretched, Herculean performance...could restore your faith in the selfless courage of acting.

Now I don't know who to believe

A lot of classic films are inspired by Asian/Japan/Hong Kong cinema
Tarantino Reservoir dogs & Kill Bill also Fistful of Dollars Clint Eastwood is a remake of Yojimbo by kurosawa. The Magnificent Seven is a remake of Seven Samurai
The Exorcist William friedkin has mentioned Onibaba.
Kurosawa even was an inspiration for Star Wars.

I just watched a trailer on youtube for the first movie. It looks real interesting. The lenticular looks absolutely bad ass but I'm probably going to pass on this release. That's what I'm saying now though. Will I have the urge to resist when this goes live :ohno::D
