If any of you that missed out on Iron Man 1 are not ninja (PREMIUM) members, maybe now would be a good time to join for you.

I have 2x guaranteed spots open for Iron Man 1 on the ninja board, so in addition to this one, there are numerous give aways we do, just for ninjas, you get a bigger pm inbox, the ability to access our ninja members only board, and a bunch of other stuff. :D

So maybe it's worthwhile for some of you guys - $25 for a lifetime membership!

Can't beat that value! :naughty:

EDIT: Here's the link!

Feel for you, but there's still several chances to get a copy - see link in my sig for charity draw to win IM 1&2 and there are two or three other draws/GB opportunities still live on here :)

Not to be an ass, as I appreciate all the work you guys do, both for this site and seemingly for charity. But somehow spending $25+ just on the off chance I may get a copy doesn't really make up for Play.com screwing me out of a copy. I'm not having a go at either of you, but I'm sure you can understand why I am pissed off here.

Mate, PM me, I see if I can sort something out with you for an IM1+IM2.

Sure, I understand the frustration with play.

On the ninja board - there is no "chance" on that one. I don't have enough names to fill the spots, so I have a copy for you, if you are a ninja and you ask for it.

No worries, just wanted to mention that you get lots of benefit for $25 of ninja membership. :)

EDIT: well, it appears those are gone! Two new members are joining as we speak. :)

Yep, you have every right to be p***ed @ Play and get your point about the cost to take premium membership (but I must add its well worth it anyway)

The charity draw doesn't require you to be a member (it's in general chat section) - in essence I've asked forum members to donate £5 to the charity with the added bonus that you get an entry into the draw to win IM 1&2 - not trying to labour the opportunity but just so you knew.

Fingers crossed Play get there act together and you get your copy direct. :)

Can't believe they have put this for sale again, and at twice the price. Surely they could have offered them to people who already had their orders cancelled.

Man, I am so pissed off. I've missed out on this and fellow HDN members get theirs when mine will end up getting cancelled. I'm glad for them, but I am so annoyed for getting screwed out of a copy of this steelbook.

Relax. I'm sure you will get your copy. Play seem to be really slow these days. They probably just haven't updated your order status yet. Mine only arrived today (was dispatched on July 31st!) :chill pill:

That's what I was thinking. Also, can they double the price second time round? Is that not against your consumer rights or something?

They've never done that with say an Amaray release of any title so why do it with a saught after Steelbook only to extort people?

Play can easily say the £10.99 was a promotional price. It is their say.

I heard it through the people in the know that there were not a lot of copies put back up for order and the process to (again) remove the listing is a manual effort. So meaning that some orders will sneak through, even though there is no stock remaining, while the guy in the back room is removing the page from the website.

I would imagine part of the price hike is to recoup some of the shipping cost and handling that goes into processing a return and getting it ready again to ship out from the warehouse.

Not an excuse, just my thoughts on why that might be happening.

Why ship out returns again if they're going to be returned a second or even third time? That would just incur more costs for Play. It would be a never ending cycle then.

Also, to expect people to pay double the price for something somebody already returned for whatever reason is a bit of a rip off!

but then look at it from plays point of view.

they will constantly see people buying their exclusives and selling them on ebay for £50.00.

you have to see it from both sides.

I guess the answer is quite simple, at least IMHO: People have different standards for everything: The pricing and item's condition varies from one to another.
For some, 19.99 is a OK price considering they're going for, at least, 50 on eBay already. Also, what may be a "huge dent" to one could be just a "small mark" to another.
So, in the end of the day, Play don't stay with any "damaged" items and the guy that was about to pay 50 for the same edition gets it for "only" 19.99... ;)

I didn't say that part was true, I just said it made sense from what could happen.

Expecting a smaller business / retailer like play to absorb all consumer costs is kind of ridiculous, IMO.

And I think a rip off are e-bay prices.

Anyway, please keep things positive on this thread, if you've not read the do's and dont's stickied on this forum, now is the time to check it out.

Thank you.

I've done nothing wrong. I've just voiced my opinion, that's all. If I can't do that, then I might as well leave well enough alone :(
