I think we are truly witnessing a Battle Royale between Play and HMV over who are Kings of the Steelbooks. These are good times indeed, of which all of us are involved in and driving the popularity of our obsession/hobby. The Terminator v's Avengers Assemble v's Iron Man v's whatever HMV springs upon us all next!

Let the good times roll...

Ok, thanks I will keep an eye on the thread.

I really hope they do. I really like knowing im one of the 4000 people in the world that owns one like with the other releases!

Play.com has an eye on this forum and they do listen to collectors.

They understand the importance of a limited run, so there won't be a ton of these printed. ;)

I expect the MAIN battle royale going on right now is for the exclusive steelbook of The Dark Knight Rises all across the globe!!!

Sorry back on topic - I really hope future titles will learn from the Iron Man's clean design. I would only add that they add a graphic on the spine other than the Paramount logo.

Since this is a Paramount title, would it be safe to assume that the Play.com versions of IM and IM2 will be region free?

I think it's safe to say that the discs will be the same as the existing UK releases ;) So yes ;)

Love this artwork :) But embossed title... Does that mean that ACTUALLY the only things not getting debossed are the border and the title? Like Thor and Captain America?

I believe that would be a correct observation ralfers.

Wreck has stated in other spots that currently with steelbooks there can be no emboss without a deboss.

:)

Looks to be that way.

Here's the question; would you rather the market be flooded with unlimited copies of Iron Man, or would you rather have a limited run of only 4,000, but then cap everyone's maximum to only 3 copies (like HMV have done with The Avengers)?

Personally I would much prefer a limited run of 4,000 (capping everyone to a smaller amount). If the market gets flooded with endless copies of Play's Iron Man, it will absolutely damage the exclusivity of FS's edition also.

Limited runs are always preferable, though there should be no comparison drawn between HMV Avengers and a 4,000 unit print run. I would expect Avengers is 8-10 times as much as that at least! Just look at how long it took Pirates 4 to sell out on-line and Cars 2 is still available 7 months after release.

Play haven't flooded the market yet with an exclusive steelbook so why would they start now? This Iron Man will become a collectible item in its own right. Regardless though, I reckon the FS version will always be highly prized and sought after by any true collectors as THE holy grail.

From what Wreck says in a previous post it sounds like we are lucky not to have an FS re-release on our hands which I'm sure he played a big part in preventing!

Anyhows, back on topic. I hope this comes with an amazing slip, something that is building in popularity now that we are finally getting "clean" Steelbooks. Think of Japan's The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo and HMV's Avenger's Assemble etc. That's the one component I believe Play could still improve upon.

I also want to add my own personal thanks, once again, to Wreck for all that he has done in getting us this far. Great work.

Really? You got an email from HMV about buying more than 3 Avengers per account? Interesting that I have not heard from HMV. Perhaps because I am located outside the UK/Europe?

Yeah lucky you lol They probably think you won't be bothered sending them back when they come dented with theyre shoddy packing seeing as it would cost you :hilarious: Still the other thing we talked about before would work with them :oohyeah:

Sorry for being off topic thought this was Avengers

I would honestly like everyone who wants one to be able to get one, and not at some rip off price later on down the line from people flipping them on ebay. As collectors, we are all in the same boat of enjoying the fact that some of the stuff we own has value. But at the same time, if we are collecting for personal satisfaction and not as an investment, then what does it matter how many are out there?

Just my 2 cents, since really that's all I have after buying a ton of Steelbooks over the past few weeks/months! ;)
