A reprint of the play Iron Man - well I suppose if they re-printed Star Trek it's not outwith the realms of possibility.

They'd sell a ****-load if they did both Thor and Captain America with different artwork to those already out...

I sent a message to zavvi on twitter suggesting this and Thor as reprints seeing as they're doing Star Trek - he/she agreed they'd like to see them too and said they'd pass it on to the relevant people. Not holding my breath though.

Good luck.

If there's money to be made, I'm sure Zavvi will give it a go. I'm not bothered if they rerelease them or not as I got my copy first time round at retail price. I'd actually be happy if steelbooks remained in print and weren't limited editions in the first place, that way there wouldn't be such a rush to preorder them and have to pay full price when the amaray version drops like a stone a few weeks later.

I like steelbooks because they're nicer, not because they're rare.

Star Trek is over a couple of years old. I cannot see an Iron Man reprint for another year at least. Also, with great people like Wreck around it won't be the same artwork.

I don't understand why people ask for re-prints. Sure it's annoying missing out on great titles, but it happens to every collector. Part of the Steelbook game is exclusivity, take that away and it makes it a lot less fun (in my opinion). I like buying amarays, but they don't excite me like opening a package from a member from across the world or winning that eBay auction for that rare title or getting caught up in the hype of a new release.

Why not ask for new titles rather than ones that have already been released? There are plenty of Paramount titles that are begging for a Steelbook release. I would love to see Catch Me If You Can, The Truman Show, Trading Places, Beverly Hills Cop etc. but no let's forget that and just have reprints of all the titles I missed out on. In the end all it boils down to is selfishness, I want this, I can't afford it, let's make more instead!

I like steelbooks because they are nice too, but I feel the rare ones help to make this collecting hobby what it is

My point being that currently the studios / retailers are churning them out as a more premium product than the standard amaray which they can subsequently charge a premium for too. That is their aim - to get the most £ per unit released. They have cottoned on to this and are probably doing quite well out of it at the moment. But they don't all spend their days on the forum so will never really 'get it'

If the collectability factor gets reduced due to every title being given an unlimited steelbook print run, then ultimately you end up with another amaray but with much higher production costs. No studio head would sign off increased costs for an insignificant return on investment, so then steelbooks end up getting scrapped

The studio then looks for the next big thing / steelbook equivalent to tart up their products and so the cycle begins again.

Now I know my example is extreme but I'm just trying to get my point over rather than turning it into a rant, or even worse waffle! :p

The best solution / compromise is surely a release with different artwork. That way all parties are satisfied (I hope ;)).

People let's not go making rash remarks. Keep it civil and friendly. We have a lot of different collectors here and everybody is entitled to there own opinion but keep it civil. We won't be IP-banning anybody right now. Thank you all for understanding. :)

hey just out of interest, do u guys check IP's and accounts? sometimes i get the feeling like its the same guy under 10 different accounts coming here just to bump this thread with:

"reprint this pleaaeeeeeeeeeeeese"

There's a lot of different things that go on behind the scenes here, all of it is for the benefit of the current members. We're always keeping an eye on things and also with the help of everyone we can make this a safe place for everybody to enjoy and feel safe trading, buying or participating in a GB. We do look for similarities in what's being posted against people that have been banned for whatever reason it may be. Account's are checked in many different ways that's all I can really say. :)

Ive just spent over the odds on this it better not get a reprint. Thor on the other hand........

I know what you mean I paid £40 for a sealed iron man but no way will I pay £80+ for Thor

Saying that if they don't bring out a reprint Il end up buying it most likely £150+ by then

Would people not buy a steelbook if it wasn't limited to a set number?

I personally do not care how limited the run is. I buy them because when purchased new they are only a little more than a regular amaray case and normally feature alternative artwork.

I guess you could say I am not per se a collector as I open everyone I get with the exception of ones I may hold onto for trades.

Right I'm off to Twitter to ask Zavvi NOT to re-release this and Thor, and to pass that onto the relevant people. ;)

I guess it is a good thing that with the way the world is if someone can money off of it they will produce it...I am sure Zavvi knows they would make serious bank off of these re-releases if it did happen.

At this point though I would hold out in hopes of getting a IM trilogy steelbook in the fall. :scat:

There are too many versions of IM 1/2 steelbooks out there as it is.

I rather there be no reprint of it anytime soon or ever. I can see IM trilogy steelbook later this year.

While I understand how frustrating it must be to miss out on the Iron Man Steelbook, getting companies to reprint it would take the shine off this hobby. I would much prefer to see another steelbook of Iron Man come out with different artwork much like Star Trek has now got.
