Its a glass half full/half empty for me.

I like the concept, but more as a surprise. As in non-advertised a person gets one and Walah! There's also a SteelBook inside. And I think if it had started with a title not so popular at least in the rabid collecting world then it'd be cool. Then the next step would be putting in a good title which then would make me go "Whoa, they'll start having SteelBooks in here occasionally ... maybe I should just sign up" But the flip side is people would also give them hell saying "That's the only way they can move X title". Most UK retailers besides Amazon have come and gone in regards to selling SteelBooks. Zavvi is still here and they also put out some niche title steelbooks that no where else in the world are doing. I commend that, cause these days its everyone just jumping on Globals.

But I think when starting with Dredd (which is a very iconic popular character in the UK) and then a Marvel title it can sting more for those who have had no interest prior in the Zbox.

But ... how do you get more to have interest? Well, not that bad then ... we're talking about it aren't we? Ok, well played.

And of course those who are fans of the Zbox already probably love that now it's coming with a SteelBook.

I guess to each their own ... get it now or possibly pay more later ...or take the gamble that some go on the store or ebay for lesser price.

Perhaps next its 2k for separate and 2k with embossing in the Zbox.

Main problem for me with this, is you don't always get the steelbook you ordered, and this has happened to many people now. I did quite like the Zbox till this happened to me. Trying to get things done through there customer service is laughable in all honesty.

I don't mind not owning this, so if it sells out, I won't be bothered. If I had to guess, the steelbook alone would sell for £24.99, so the stupid box costs £15. I would rather give my money to a retailer who will focus more on the steelbook package and do a better job at it (for less money too), like Film Arena for example.

Don't really understand why they pay for crap to put in a zbox when they could put the money towards putting out packages like FA. No harm in copying a winning formula.

They pay for this so called crap in bulk. If they added stuff like the film arena packages you would never get them for film arena prices. You'll be spending probably £40-50 retail for a steelbook . The zavvi steels already go for £25 a pop already

"Crap" is a subjective term of course. Millions of people buy licensed products. For the retailer, it helps them establish their place in retail market place with suppliers who manufacture other Marvel (or whatever the theme is) merchandise. The folks that license merchandise are interested in selling their items to the same population that likes Marvel movies. The more any retailer sells of merchandise, the better their contracts/discounts and other terms become. Always been that way-the Zbox (or mystery boxes sold by other companies for years) is just one way to sell a variety of different items at once.

Very good points @digitalbabe

Yes many people buy many different mystery boxes all over the word, the term 'crap' is all a matter of opinion, some items I've thought were rubbish, someone else is bowled over with joy to receive it, I think that is true of everything.

As they say one man's trash is another man treasure.

If I could only buy milk if I bought fags too then I'd exercise my right as a consumer to take my business elsewhere. I may disagree with their choice but as the retailer they're perfectly entitled to set their terms. If I really, really wanted the milk and it was not available anywhere else as a single item then I'd decide whether or not I'm willing to buy the fags just to get the milk. I decide if I value the milk enough to justify taking on the cost of the fags just to get the milk. Perhaps I can sell the fags to a mate to recover some of the cost so the hit isn't quite as bad lol.

I hear what you are saying but, zavvi have been selling steelbooks on their own to collectors, if you want this you have to buy the zbox but a) you won't receive it in the box, b) I doubt there will be anything to signify that it is limited and exclusive to the zbox.

They know that hardened collectors will buy this, they are just getting more money out of them.

Who is betting we will see the steelbook pop up on the Hut.

I doubt they'll do the lenticular image right this time. Besides, already own the FS one, so at this price this will be a certain pass for me.

I'm waiting to read a comment where someone actually liked what was in their zbox. Otherwise we can safely remove the word opinion.

However, Zavvi are perfectly entitled to sell by batch. They are a company that exists to make money. One born out of other companies that did not.

Who in their right mind wants to spend £40 on title that is flooding the market though is beyond me.

I've been reading this thread for days, and I'm quite amused at the back and forth going on here, so keep it up, I like to be entertained , but here's my 2 pence worth...

Firstly I don't think yet another Iron Man steelbook is at all necessary, it sounds like just another retailer cash grab, and the addition of a lenticular cover is going to be pointless if it's a magnet like Avengers Assemble, that wasn't great. (and has it been confirmed a Magnet or Slip ?)

The Zbox is an acquired taste, I absolutely hate such boxes of unsellable, pointless, resource sapping, pointless durge :stop:, but others like it so that's fine.

I don't like the idea of linking a Zbox to a Steelbook, I've said it many times and the vast majority of people on this board i believe think it's a terrible idea. And at £40, it's daylight robbery.

I would assume the print run for this would be 3-4k, maybe more if its a shared run, but I really doubt zavvi would link all the steelbooks to the zbox, I suspect what is going to happen is - A limited number of zboxes, say a 1000 or so will be bundled with Iron Man, zavvi will charge you the full whack of £40, then ship the zbox, with the steelbook to arrive later (or the same time, who knows?), but then once zavvi have your hard earned cash, they will list the remainder of the Iron Man steelbooks (with full artwork/specs) as a separate steelbook only listing...... Lets be honest here, If I was an 'Evil' zavvi sales employee, that's the crafty thing I would do.

Anyway, the abridged post reads "I hate this idea"

The worst thing would be that Zavvi change their policy .... and in the future, would propose other box with exclusive steelbook.
That would be not very respectful for their consumers. It's just my opinion.

I don't have at all any Iron Man steelbook, but I looked forward to get one. and now I'm very disappointed, I will not pay this price for a Zavvi steelbook.

If this bundle does sell out dont forget, if the steelbook arrives damaged you Can't replace the steelbook unless they get more steelbooks :p so you will have a damaged steelbook that you can't replace and a ZBOX :rofl: maybe Zavvi will give you a refund if you send back the steelbook (not sure how much the steelbook is though) but then you will just have a ZBOX ;)

Good point. And another valid reason why Zboxes don't work.

If they sell out with the zbox, zavvi will not see any need to sell it seperatley if they can sell it with the zbox.
