Unfortunately, I can no longer watch or purchase ANY film or project attached to Tom Cruise because I refuse to support Scientology in any shape form or fashion.
I really like his films so it's a shame!
What's scientology? And how are you supporting it by watching/buying his movies?

Scientology is a cult that calls itself a "religion". It is a vampire "religion" that sucks its adherents dry of all of their money and rips families apart. Unlike other "religions" Scientology requires that you pay directly for "enlightenment" and makes no attempt to disguise it.

Tom Cruise is Scientology's most prominent and famous adherent. In the past he kept his personal beliefs separate from his acting career and I believe everyone has a right to believe what they want to. Over the past 5 years or so he has blurred those lines though because he has been so vocal about it.

I may give in and see it but given the nature of the cult it just seems to me that spending money on Mr. Cruise's endeavors is directly contributing to ALL his endeavors. Doesn't mean others shouldn't... I always feel that every dollar I spend is basically a vote for something and I try to stay conscious of that.

Well, it's your money so do whatever pleases you. Me? I will enjoy whatever I want regardless of any religion. It includes buying the Best Buy steelbook and the upcoming BluFans Premium edition.

I guess you won't be buying GREASE, STAR TREK II: THE WRATH OF KHAN, LOOK WHO'S TALKING, SAVING PRIVATE RYAN, AVATAR, TED, or CASINO ROYALE either.

They are all featuring notable Scientologists too.

I got my 4K player (Christmas present to myself), so I then pre-ordered the Jack Reacher 2, Sing, and Passengers 4K steelbooks from BB. Got $20 off for buying 3 and it came out to $72.97 + tax. Not bad!!

John Travolta is into this Cult just as much

The scientology thing is WAY too intense to discuss on HDN. But if Shaggy has enlightened even one person then I guess that's ok.

In my extremely limited experience with them I've found them to be very strange, and very unpleasant if you cross them.

If I didn't buy Never Go Back it would be because it's a mediocre film, not because Cruise is a Scientologist (but I probably will buy it because I nearly went to see it twice, it was so forgettable).

Ha ha! Didn't mean to start a philosophical debate on HDN! The beauty of freedom is that Mr. Cruise can choose to devote the next ONE million years to Xenu and I can choose what to spend or not spend my money on! :D

Seriously?!? Tom Cruise was our neighbor in Naples, Florida, and he is the nicest, most down-to-earth person you would ever want to meet. There are dozens of Hollywood "A-Listers" that are MUCH worse people and probably should be boycotted - but I don't judge a person by religious or personality disorders. Shaggy78, I'm sorry that you're so narrow-minded.

Whoa! djjez83 is a serious Tom Cruise fan!

As for Tom being the nicest person etc., that's not shaggy's upset. It's that, bottom line, (some of) the money Tom makes from his movies is going to Scientology, and they use him as a poster boy for their 'cult'.

These Jack Reacher films remind me of the Jesse Stone series that Tim Selleck has been doing. Except the Jesse Stone films are a little better.

And Scientology is viewed as a dangerous cult in most countries, isn't even recognized in over 150 UN nations, and is constantly monitored in its homeland of the US.
For the uninformed "Scientology" was actually created by Ron L Hubbard, a failed science fiction writer who based this pseudo-religion upon the incoherent ramblings of his trashy novels.
Enough said?

I really enjoyed the first Jack Reacher, this one was still entertaining but disappointing in comparison. Worth a watch but I'm sure you will be able to catch it running multiple times a week on FX down the line.
