Being a Japanese steel enthusiast, I wanted to open the floor to everyone who wants to talk about anything Japanese steels.

Share pics (cause mine are terrible quality), ask questions, and maybe learn a thing or two. Heck I wouldn't even think there'd be a problem if you have any really cool slipcovers to

Maybe somebody will even start threads for other countries :)

Hope to hear from y'all soon!

Mike

Slim ... Great thread .... Very fun to categorize and chat about steels by Country .... Plus there should be less arguements as this is the Japanese thread ... not USA, UK, DE etc. :)

Let's keep if peaceful and have fun! Others are more than welcome to create a general thread on any other Country. :)

That was exactly my hope with creating this. People can feel free to start one for other countries. Heck I don't even mind questions like Slim's. I welcome them. The more people that come in here the more that we can convert :naughty:

The point of this thread is to enjoy our love for JP steels and sharing with anyone who's willing to read/look

Glad it's being well received.

Keep the pics coming :)

I didn't open it mate (I am crazy, but not insane :D). I won a yahoo japan auction for an opened copy. It was minty mint. I could not believe that it was so well kept for an opened copy.

Later, ! managed to buy a sealed/mint copy. Then I sold the opened copy.

And you've regretted it ever since :p

Does Japan have their own Steelbook factory? Their paint jobs on Steelbooks are very vibrant and shiny (even matte Steelbooks).

Well, whatever the reason their steels tend to be of the highest quality.

Would be cool to work out a list of all Japanese steelbooks :)

Or I could look at chip's sales thread :hilarious:

I would do that gladly. If I had a keyboard :hilarious:

But from what I hear we could just contact Elena and get pics along with the list :p

Great idea for a thread SJ! I'll get a picture together, as right now there is no breathing for them. They are all sardined together. :p

I'll say again, congrats on the Thor. It was a long journey, but that's what makes a hobby fun. Without the hunt and goals, what else do we have? ;)

I felt myself die a little inside when I read this. :emb:

You know what you have to do ;)

What really makes Thor (JP) so great besides the rarity? The slip is so tiny and it doesn't have a picture of Thor on it or anything cool. I am not trying to start an argument. I am a huge Asian steel fan but I just don't understand the hype around it. Maybe it's one of those you have to see up close?

I can only speak for myself on this. I was after this steel for so long solely for the slip.

I used to live in Japan and can read some Japanese, so I knew right away that I wanted this.

The print run wouldn't have mattered. It was just a coincidence that I had to have one of the hardest ones to find.

I don't know what the other releases look like in the flesh, but with this one, it was worth every penny (and trust me it was a lot of pennies :hilarious:)

Hopefully soon we'll have more pics up. To me, the slips just look really nice. That's why I'm not really crazy about the dark knight or se7en of mine. No slip = no big deal

I actually laughed out loud when I read this! :hilarious: Sorry guys, I couldn't help myself.

Mike, what a great idea for a thread! I am in the course of taking pics of parts of my collection now. I will post pics as soon as I get to my Jpn steels.

As for BTTF, T2 ver 1.0 and Iron Sky, IMHO, those are great steels for many reasons including the fact that their artwork is not repeated anywhere else ie they are true exclusives. Even if their artwork were to be repeated elsewhere in future (which IMHO is unlikely), their slips or spines cannot be duplicated.

Japan steels should always be first

Really looking forward to the Japanese release of The Last Samurai but I have to say my favorite so far has been The Dark Knight. The black and white contrast complement each other on that steel than any other b/w steel.

The no slip just gets me. But you're right. The contrast is great.

Thanks for the post! That reminds me, everyone should post the JP steels that they have on pre order. And could even include why, I'm easily convinced!

I am not sure if this is complete or not but this was taken from another forums. Biscuit always gets what he wants.

I did take some pics of my Thor Japan last night. But those are with other Avengers steels in the chanfm collection thread. You can look at that first whilst I organise the pics of Japan steels only. ;)

No they dont. There are Scanavo Asian reps and they also handle Australia.

Oooooo how about we do a "market value" next to each release so new collectors can know what they cost?? Anybody game? I'm gonna need a lot of help from y'all

I think that may be too hard for all of them. Plus the list would have to be updated constantly.
