on any other steelbook i wouldn't mine the change on the title to the country the steel comes from, but in this particular one i'm so bugged that i can even look at it! one word JAWS, why so many letters, not even the French one which it's embossed/debossed is enough to make me want it...so that's why i'm all the way with the UK...may be plain, but a classic cover and title unchanged!

hey guys looking at pics very small is it embossed?

That is from a time when "every title" was translated!
Think germans did not speak much german back then :(

Damnit, I KNEW this would happen...getting closer to closer to getting German edition, too. Grew up there, and the film was first seen by me in German, as 'Der Weisse Hai'....must resist.......must...........fracking resist..............................:hilarious:

I'd like to throw my two cents in here
I cannot buy Der weisse hai because i grew up watching JAWS.. My german wife feels the exact opposite ( lets leave the whole " it was a book first " debate...outta this one )
I believe , if this movie was first known to you as Der weisse hai, la dents dela mer , el tiburon or Jaws then this is what makes it iconic to you .. and this should be the steelie you should own

thats my 2 cents

Hey Grifter-very true. I actually do not mind non-English titles at all on my Steelbooks. Movies and other items are released for their individual markets and what appeals to its audience. It is very possible in this instance I will end up owning both-and that's ok for me. I was always torn with this one. I own many Steels with international lettering and I absolutely love them:)

Hey Digitalbabe ( thats a cool name to type btw)
normally i dont mind either
I have Zuruck in die Zukunft and not back to the future
'but Jaws is Jaws for me ... it be the same if the went with the German book title " Dino park " for Jurassic Park.. i couldnt do that.

I dont mind my "verblendung" over the girl with the dragon tattoo. i think most countries have different names for that one with only sweden having the original "Men who hate women" as a title ...

sometimes the foreign title also seems to fit . my best example would be the italian version of gladiator ie " il Gladiatotre" which fits so well.'

Nice chatting
