Maybe they can remaster it because based on the screenshots I've seen it looks heavily DNR'd. Better than the DVD is the best I can say about it.

Can't believe I JUST found out that JSA was released on Blu-ray last year. Still one of my favorite Park films. Glad I found this thread. Thanks to everyone posting info and updates. Guess I'll wait for the eventual second replacement disc to release before ordering.

The replacement disc ships with your order.
They automatically shipped mine with the replacement disc. This was in December. I can't remember if I asked for the replacement disc or not.
If you want, just attach a note when you order that says that you want the replacement disc. (Or email them after you order).

According to xixhd's posts there were errors with the initial replacement disc (which is what you have) and as of December 2015 Nova is working on a second replacement disc that won't be ready until the middle of 2016 (which is what I'm talking about waiting for).

Jeez. I'll have to go over this thread again. I asked for the (first) replacement because I heard there was a replacement... But if I remember correctly, the problems with the initial first disc (before the replacement disc) was only apparent to the Asian customers and not English-speaking customers. I went ahead and got the replacement just in case, but now I wonder if the initial first disc is fine for me (Being an English speaking customer)? Obviously, I haven't watched either disc yet. Yeesh!

It sounded like the replacement disc was worse than the original which is why I never bothered requesting it from them. At this point I don't care about a replacement, as unless you are Korean you're not noticing the issue anyway.

This observation was on the German disc. Since then the Korean disc screenshots were posted for comparison and it does look much better than the German disc, and way better than the DVD. Unfortunately the color and brightness changes remain. It's too bright and has had a warm filter applied, draining the picture of deep blacks and moody blues.

Agree completely. Shiri is a fantastic movie and it's disgraceful that it has not been released on bluray yet.

The Metrograph theater in downtown NYC had a Park Chan-wook master series this weekend and I just came from a screening of Joint Security Area. It was a new 4K transfer of the film and this was the first time it's been shown outside of Korea. The transfer was great and the movie still holds up as one of my favorite Park films. Park was in attendance and did a brief Q&A after the screening as well. Been meaning to rewatch JSA for over a decade and am glad this is how I got to see it again.

Totally random question, but I got the plain edition with the scanavo case and was wondering if it would fit in place of the steelbook in the full slip case with the booklet?

Assuming you're asking if the steelbook could replace the Scanavo case inside the slip, I can't confirm as I don't have that specific edition, but I can say that I bought Nova's Hero Director's Cut and its slip fits my US steelbook like a glove.

I meant the other way around. I’m guessing the scanavo case would fit inside the slip that includes the photo book, but I just wanted to confirm.

I own the Scanavo case edition and have the chance to buy the fullslip edition without the steelbook, but it still includes the photobook.

Ah ok, well, since the implication is that they're likely 1:1 -- at least according to the cases in the plain editions I bought late last year -- it would apply in either direction, so I'd still say your chances are good.

I mean, if you put another steelbook in your plain edition slip, it fits, right? Safe to say it'll work in the other direction.
