The only re-issue I was aware of (in terms of two different editions) with a crackle cover was the 10,000 BC steelbook.

But that was differentiated with a new edition (non-crackle) that sold at Media Markt stores at first.

Curious if amazon.de has their facts wrong and if they have indeed done a reprint...

You can see at either end of the slip cover if it is crackled or not as it along the edges too - so no need for opening

The slipcover is opened at both ends and you can tell through the shrinkwrap that the steelbook has the crackle lacquer without tearing it open. I have pictures of this somewhere on my computer, if only I can find it. FYI - I am 4 for 4 on getting the crackle steels for this title on 2 different orders. Not sure if they are clearing stock or simply getting more but I bet the chances of getting one is pretty good right now unless someone got on and ordered a few hundred LOL...

Hi Ross, I did exactly same like you did, I email them about is there any certainty to get this crackle one but their reply still not give certain answer

At their website there are 2 different cover, crackle and normal.. I just hope they send me the crackle one since they already ship to me a few hours ago, but if they send the normal one, well there will be no big deal to me also considering it's low price

To be honest the crackle was the only reason I wanted this one but I am also very impressed with the inside art

Probably the normal edition is much rarer than the crackle.

You should know that they all come with a cardboard slipcover. And the way to tell if the steelbook is the crackled lacquer version is by looking at the top and bottom of the steelbook without tearing open the shrinkwrap or foil.

oops a rookie mistake, i opened it and there was the crackle one i received. Looks good, much prefer it over the outer cardboard cover.

Btw guys i had fired off an email to amazon regarding the steel cover, they must have misread what i wrote and apologised for not giving the first edition and refunded 1.50 euros for it, 15% apology discount. Cant complain lol.

i`m confused... i don`t think that there is a "non crackled" version in germany, or is there!?

I´ve never seen a non crackled verion too but who knows? Maybe there is a re-release like with 10000 BC.

If you search this on Amazon.de it shows pictures of a non and crackle effect, however some people in this post have said it comes with a slip case which is probably where the confusion is.
