We just recieved info from Benjamin Burke that the signage came in today at FutureShop advertising the Karate Kid in blu-ray steelbook form with dvd and digital copy. Releases, October 5th.

"The Karate Kid" is the full movie title. I wonder why Future Shop's SteelBook is missing the word "The".

Not a very good movie. The original was far better as it developed the characters a lot more than this 2010 re-hash. The original storyline flowed a lot better than this remake.

The biggest cock-up was the fact that the 'remake' wasn't even about Karate!

Though to be honest I kind of liked it, which I will put down to Mr Chan being in it.

Correct. This film was written and shot as The Kung Fu Kid. It was the studio that changed the title to cash in on the franchise.

I don't think so. If it was written and shot as The Kung Fu Kid, it was only to conceal production.

The movie itself is obviously the same story with its characters in modern day, rather than in the 1980s.
