Selling out is one aspect but how much do they sell for in the secondary market gives a better idea. Many Premium Marvel releases are now selling for less than what we paid to the retailer.

1. CA2 Kimchi WEA
2. Avengers Age of Ultron Novamedia WWA
3. CA2 Blufans WEA
4. Iron Man Blufans WEA
5. Avengers Novamedia WEA

Market is flooded with Steels and we in the UK and Europe are hard hit by poor currency. Many mock me but I know many long terms collectors who stopped importing after Steelbook inflation for those in Europe shot up by 20%.
I agree with alot of what your saying. Steelbooks from premium retailers as a whole have for the most part have lost significant value in the last 12 months. Novamedia's last 5-6 premium releases are all still in stock. Other than GOTG, EOT Lenti, JW, and maybe Drive the rest of there exclusives you can get at around cost or less, I'm sure I'm missing 1 or 2 titles but for some reason there Amaray Exclusives like Under the Skin, The Fall, American Hustle, etc, sell for huge $ go figure? Anyone know where to find the print run on those?

I will open a twitter account just for you as you look to be an ardent follower of my posts lol. I am sure my persistent posts have made me steer clear of this release for now and potentially influenced few others to lose interest in this release:)
Might I suggest a collaborative project with @virkia in which you debate the merits of "super glossy" vs "zero varnish" finishes?

Don't know why I was summoned to this thread but now I'm here I'll commit to my tuppence worth. Crap steelbook with OK front artwork but lamentable back. Love slipcase "B" though.

RE: FINISHES: Nothing to debate as each finish has its merits based on the style of the artwork and even on the type of film that's in the steelbook as well as which studio distributes it.
As we know certain distributors in the U.K. are guaranteed to give us matte steelbooks (Arrow and Eureka as two examples) . . . some with touches of spot gloss but none, without checking, in full gloss. Not one of their films are what could be deemed blockbusters and many would be classed as "cult" with steelbook artwork and finish to suit.
Other distributors are more likely to request more varieties of finish from the manufacturer.

The main finishes (as I see them):
- MATTE suits fine detailed steelbooks best - those steelbooks with lots going on in the artwork . . . artwork which could be lost in / /hidden by a gloopy glossy finish. It's not ideal on black steelbooks for example where the white opaque powder used in the varnish can kill blacks, turning them dark grey or even create a whitish chalky haze as well as streaks.
- SATIN is slightly different to Matte with about half as much white matting agent in it. Both finishes will kill any sheen and lighten colours and so are not ideal when the artwork is composed of rich, strong colours and blacks or whites which can be killed stone dead or washed out by anything less than a gloss (full or zero) finish. Satin gives more of a "glow" than a "shine" to the steelbook (IMO).
- ZERO / INVISIBLE is crystal clear with no white matting agents (unlike matte and satin) and is the go-to multi-purpose finish used on the vast majority of steelbooks - a finish with qualities of both matte and gloss but with none of the disadvantages. It gives a hint of shine and still brings out the colours to a significant extent and yet does not mask fine detail in the artwork. More a subtle wet look as opposed to a definite shine. A layer which as its name suggests does not alter the surface quality of the artwork in any way and acts solely as a protective coat.
- SPOT ULTRAVIOLET / SPOT VARNISH / SPOT GLOSS as the name suggests a shine on specific spots of the artwork even if just the title.
- GLOSS also has no matting agents and is my favourite finish for black steelbooks such as JACK REACHER as well as for white steelbooks such as EX-MACHINA. It gives an oil paint richness and a luxurious feel to the steelbook in question quite unlike any other finish and can certainly improve the appearance of a steelbook even if the artwork is subpar.

Mor like half-a-crown's worth than tuppence (LOL).

So the one-click is still available direct from Nova for $129? Can someone explain to me why we ended up paying an additional $54 through the gb? Other than the various gb fees, which are more than reasonable, why such a high markup? It's going to be harder next time to join a group buy if these will be available direct. The peace of mind factor won't apply anymore

I just looked at the GB thread and the price there is 143$, that is additional 14$ not 54$ :D

If so, be it ;) I should be more decisive lol :D Tbh, I had high expectations from Nova and was slightly underwhelmed when the slips were revealed (n) I like the SteelBook (front mainly/finish :hungry:) but the back leaves a little to be desired. I really should make a choice soon :p I'm just torn between the Fullslips and would like a consistent set with KB2
