Feel free to discuss shipping, customer service, availability, etc about this retailer here.

List of Kimchidvd.com Exclusives HERE

Frequently Asked Questions:

Q) What is the link to Kimchidvd?
A)Welcome to KIMCHI DVD
Q) I haven't mastered Korean yet - how can I read the site?!
A) Install Google translate on your browser:

Google Chrome HERE
Firefox HERE

Q) How do I register?
A) Turn on Google translate >> Login >> click on "If members to join ..." >> fill in EVERY box >>
click on this box to ensure your member ID is available:
rsz_button.jpg

You don't need to use Google Translate to register, provided you use the English registration link.
You need to enter both a Celluar phone (mobile) and Telephone number when registering/placing an order, however they can both be the same number (I don't have a home phone number, so always use my mobile number).
Numbers should be entered without a proceeding 0 and you do not need to enter your country code (KimchiDVD add it automatically to your parcel label).

So a UK phone (01452 123123) is specified like this:
Local Area Code : 1452 Phone Number : 123123

A UK mobile (07847 123123) is specified like this:
Local Area Code : 7847 Phone Number : 123123

If you have already registered, afterlogging in you can update your address/phone numbers here.

Q) Do they ship outside of Korea?
A) Yes, worldwide delivery, various shipping options available, for example to UK: (1 x steelbook)

K-Packet is tracked and one Steelbook to UK (with a weight of 450g - which is the typical weight for a lenticular) costs $10.81.
On average it takes around 7 days after dispatch to arrive in the UK - I always use K-Packet when placing orders and my orders have always arrived safely.

I'm not sure if it's insured or not (there's no mention) but assuming you pay via PayPal, their guarantee will cover you if you don't receive your order for some reason.

You can track your K-Packet order using this website, however tracking information isn't always accurate after leaving Korea (e.g. sometimes it doesn't update again before it's delivered, or even after if your postman doesn't bother getting a signature).

EMS $21.80 (Tracked, replacement will be issued where possible if lost)
TNT Premium $37.80 (Tracked, replacement will be issued where possible if lost)

Q) What form of packing do they use?
A) Cardboard Box, with enough bubblewrap to keep things safe, see below: (Thanks to SBC28 for pics)

A pretty sturdy box, which seemingly took some damage during shipping.
(These are pretty much always the same boxes.)
kimchipackaging01.jpg

Enough space for the item to "breathe", but snug enough to stop it from moving.
(That white thing is the invoice, which i choose to include, since i am in the USA.)
kimchipackaging02.jpg

6 layers of bubble wrap.

Another shot of the bubble wrap, one sheet (4 layers) removed.

One minty mint SB, all the way from Korea.

Q) Is the retailer custom's friendly? (i.e will they mark as gift, or low value).
A) Very friendly, you have various options to choose from:
rsz_customs-kimchi.jpg

Q) Will the retailer charges upon order or upon shipment
A) You will be charged upon order

Q) What payment do they accept?
A) Card or Paypal

Q) Customer Services any good?
A) Yes - overall a very good, reliable site to order from.

Cancellations: Send an email to [email protected], including the number of the order you wish to cancel. He'll get back to you as soon as he can.

Replacements: are issued if in stock, if not a refund will be offered.
Refunds: They are normally processed within a few days.

Please next time, limit the order to 1 of each edition. I'm sure kimchi will sell all the copies and it'll avoid the scalpers.

Yeh i think thats fair as well... That way it gives everyone a chance ;)
Thats just my op :)

I hope when Kimchi process all the orders there are enough left over/cancelations to get a copy... :ohno:

They should do a ticketing system or something where you have to enter a code that is pre-sent to registered members expressing interest in order to finish the transaction. Free up the servers then as well

Saying that it would become a lottery then

Thats why the group buy method is very effective too. I know it takes a bit longer and maybe a bit more money but it guarantees people are not buying multiple copies to scalp later. Not against capitalism, I'm just thinking about our fellow collectors.

Amazing that a one man show can sell out a title in 30 minutes and ship each one individually bubblewrapped and not have one dent.

Wake me up when zavvi sells out an entire 3500 run worth losing sleep over and gets every single one of them shipped in bubblwrap undamaged to collectors around the world.

Until then zavvi isn't even in the same league and they are a huge corporation with many employees and are still getting beat by Tony and his small staff.

for all the bitching about how slow the website runs I have never had a kimchi release turn up that wasn't absolutely mint which-considering the limitations of the whole operation-is nothing short of miraculous

I know Kimchi posted an email about membership which-(please don't slap my wrists moderators) vanished soon after-something has to give as we no longer have Blufans GB's & demand for these is ridiculous.

When you are only handling one or two releases at a time and charge the prices that Kimchi do, then you can afford the time to ensure everything is perfect.

He sells more than just one or two releases. Those are Kimchi releases that he actually works on.

Are you forgetting he actually has a store that sells hundreds of items?

Its actually pointless arguing this. If you want light beer go to zavvi. If you want Whiskey go to Kimchi.

People have left zavvi and are flooding Korea bigtime. Why do you think Kimchi Exclusives are selling out in record time?

Also about the prices comparison. Bare bones Disney steels at zavvi are $35. Thats the same price as the last Kimchi Exclusive. Which would you rather have?

Zavvi charge 99p for shipping worldwide, so it would be asking a lot for their international customers to expect a bigger box and bubble wrap. If they charged $11, upto $25, like Kimchi then maybe.

Actions speak louder than words. I see zavvi exclusives still for sale on their site while Kimchi exclusives selling out in minutes.

Looks to me like the majority of shoppers could care less about cheap shipping and rather go for a quality product.

They don't just sell their exclusives, Snoo. They have a lot of products judging from the website. Surely he is handling the packaging and handling of them as well right? :D

We are referring to Steelbooks here are we not? In any case, Zavvi sells thousands of items, many more than Kimchi I imagine. My point is a valid one.

A fool and his money are soon parted? Kimchi persuaded collectors to buy three copies of an identical Steelbook that wasn't even a true exclusive, I think that says it all really. As for the price comparison, I like to factor in postage. If Kimchi charged 99p for International shipping, you might have a point.

Most consumers don't care about the 99p shipping zavvi charges. If that was such a big deal you would see zavvi selling out of steels. Lately they have been comming back into stock.

My point stands. People are voting with their wallet.

One more thing. Tony actually listens to people on here. I remember the other day I mention how it would be cool if the Rush Lenticular had rain effects added in. The next day it is announced that it will be added in.

I can't thank Tony enough for that. That is truly awesome!!!

I think you missed my point. I'm saying that it is not valid to compare Steelbook prices between the two retailers because of the shipping charges. A Zavvi Disney Steelbook costs £20 delivered to my door. A copy of Rush would cost me approximately £10 more by the cheapest shipping method they offer. Anything that adds to the total cost is very important for me and for many collectors I imagine.

That doesn't make any sense to me at all. There are much bigger reasons why Zavvi titles don't sell out quickly any more, first and foremost the number of titles being released in the UK at the moment.

If your going to say its not valid to compare prices because of the shipping charges, I am going to counter and say its not valid to compare them because of the MASSIVE difference in quality of the releases between the two companies. You can have your bare bones cheap zavvi steels. I will take the Premium product any day of the week and it looks like I am not the only one that thinks this way.

Like I said. Zavvi selling less steelbooks now regardless of how many releases they are doing in the UK. They have taken a hit so the amount of steelbook releases is an invalid argument.

Lets just agree to disagree. Come back in a year and lets see how each company is doing as far as selling steelbooks go.

The last 3 Kimchi Exclusives I've wanted I've missed out on because of their backward website. Each time I've done everything correctly with prior planning, but all I get is a cart add fail notification or a frozen screen. I can say this, my patience (and many other genuine collectors) is wearing decidedly thin with the whole process. If Kimchi mess up with Iron Man, they will divide the entire community permanently.

Iron Man is supposed to be something to look forward to, but all I currently feel is a sense of foreboding, knowing that once again I'll take time out of my life when I could be doing other things, to instead get annoyed, frustrated, angry and stressed by abject failure in my quest.

It shouldn't be this way. That is all.

So basically you're in a huff cause you missed out? Somebody's always going to miss out. Doesn't matter how good the website is. The demand exceeds the supply therefore somebody will always be disappointed. Suck it up.

I feel the same way, it always seems a bit random as to who is successful in purchasing their preferred copy/s. There were comments from some Ninja's with regard to Rush where they successully ordered Full Slips, Lenticular Copies and the standard version. I have a 152Mbit connection with Virgin Media, I always do a quick Speed check online before attempting the Kimchidvd purchases and everything checks out but with their last 5 releases all i get is problems loading anything on their website and have missed out every time. I guess I am just unlucky ....

Nothing you say makes any sense, so I think it's best that we do agree to disagree.

Nothing you say makes any sense and all my points are backed up with actual proof. People are leaving zavvi and pouring into Korea. This is why sales have lagged at zavvi. Proof is in the pudding. Don't let your emotions get in the way of actual proof.

Please explain to me how I am making no sense.

People are not leaving either zavvi or Kimchi. Only thing is Kimchi needs a better and efficient way in delivering this steelbooks to customers. I remember when first time Rush package was revealed here many Ninja's requested Tony/Choi to put a limit to 1 copy at least for 1st hour but they kept on saying this will not sell out. Had they listened to this requests things would have been different for Rush or even Thor.

But I am hopeful things will improve for good. :)
